A) The Fujitsu Amilo Li 3710 Notebook PC does not have a graphics card.

It has Integrated Graphics.

The Integrated Graphics borrows some of the system resources.
Processor and Ram Memory

The Integrated Graphics is part of the motherboard chipset.
The Intel GL40 - Northbridge chip, and the Intel ICH9-M - Southbridge chip,

The integrated graphics is Intel GMA 4500MHD

So,.............what do you mean by clean it?

1) What ARE the symptoms,

2) Have you connected an external VGA monitor, to the laptop?
If so do you get a display on the external VGA monitor?

Sorry, didn't mean to be so long in replying. The statement, "Sometimes about every 10 minutes, all of my desktop screen becomes White" (You're doing great with the English language. Just a little rough. Apologizes that English is all I am proficient with. You sir are to be commended) By the fact that this occurs every 10 minutes or so, leads me to believe the graphics chipset may be overheating. The Thermal Pad on top of the graphics chipset, is no good. Thermal Paste has dried up. (A Thermal Pad is a material that is impregnated with Thermal Paste. Thermal Paste dries up? It then looses it's thermal conductivity properties. Allows the component it is placed on, to overheat) Let's start with testing the graphics chipset, Lumi. This is the start of the diagnostic flowchart anyway. To test requires an external monitor. This way we are bypassing everything but the graphics chipset. A) Laptop OFF, monitor OFF, connect a VGA monitor to the VGA connector on the laptop. You can use a CRT type of monitor (Looks like a small TV), or a flat LCD screen monitor if it has a VGA cable. To the right is an example of a VGA connector. Most of the time they are Blue in color, but in reality color does NOT matter. VGA Cable example is below. VGA connector on Amilo Li 3710 is on the Left side/Middle. Turn the monitor on. If a CRT type of monitor allow it to warm up. Turn the laptop on. By factory default settings the display should show on the external monitor. IF not; press, and hold down on the Fn key. (Bottom left) At the same time tap once on the F10 key. (The F10 key is the Display Toggle-Over key) Still no? Hold the Fn key down again, and tap once more on the F10 key. Graphics on external VGA monitor? Good. This was expected. Allow the laptop to run for a while with the external VGA monitor attached, and see if the screen goes White. My thoughts? It won't. But this IS a diagnostic test, and not a guessing game. Your prognosis is based on facts. Display on external VGA monitor shows to be good, for a long period of time? OK, now we know the problem is the Video Cable, or inside the Display Assembly. Video Cable: The Video Cable plugs into the motherboard, in an area under the Keyboard, or Switch Cover. (Switch Cover. The thin strip of plastic under the LCD screen, and above the Keyboard. Has the speakers in it, and covers for the Hinges are formed from it ) From there it leads up under the left Hinge, and up into the Display Assembly. The Video Cable then has a smaller cable coming from it, and this cable plugs into one side of the screen Inverter. The rest of the main part of the Video Cable plugs into the back of the LCD screen. Example of cable, Click on the photo to enlarge. The Yellowish/Goldish connector at Top/Left, connects to the back of the LCD screen. The small white connector, (And cable) at Bottom, connects to the screen Inverter. Go around, and come up; the large white connector plugs into the motherboard. ALL power removed, AC adapter (Charger), and Battery. Switch Cover needs to be removed, and maybe Keyboard; to check motherboard connection of Video Cable. You CANNOT just visually check. You MUST physically check. Try to plug the connector plug in tighter. [ Switch Cover: I don't have a Service Manual for this laptop, nor have I worked on one. Do want you to know I HAVE worked on too many laptops to count, and ALL laptops are made by THREE main laptop manufacturers. They make them for HP, Compaq, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Acer, Gateway, IBM, Lenovo, etc. This is just, 'another day at the office ) The Switch Cover may just pop loose, or there may be screws from underneath, in the Battery Compartment area. This shows a view of just the Base Enclosure. (Bottom Cover) Looks to be 6 screw holes in the Battery Compartment. If there are screws (Philips head) remove them. Then turn the laptop back over, ease the Display Assembly back, and try to gently pop the Switch Cover loose. I use a thick guitar pick, in the parting line on-between the Switch Cover, and Base Enclosure, on the Right side. Then ease your fingertips under the cover, and go along the bottom, and top, towards the Left. BE AWARE that there are tiny speaker wires going to the speakers; in the Switch Cover. This means be GENTLE, and do not lift the Switch Cover up too far, until you get those wires disconnected, from the speakers.

I had to stop for a minute. I am typing in a 'ticker-tape' format in this Comment section, and you can get lost easily. Going on; Is the Switch Cover a separate cover, OR; is it part of the Palm Rest Cover? If part of the Palm Rest Cover post back in a Comment. Cable on the left side. Does it plug into the motherboard here, or does the cable lead onto under the Keyboard? If not check connection. Try to plug in tighter. If so remove the Keyboard. When I state - Remove, I do NOT mean all the way at this point. Know this; the Keyboard Cable STAYS attached to the Keyboard. It removes From the Keyboard. The end of the Keyboard Cable on the motherboard side, does NOT have a plug connector. It is a FFC. Flat Flex Cable, and looks similar to this, There is a SPECIFIC method to unlocking the motherboard cable, in order to remove the Keyboard Cable. At this point, lift the Keyboard up slightly, on the LCD screen side. Slide it forward a little bit, towards the LCD screen, and then lift up. REMEMBER, the Keyboard Cable is still attached, so don't lift too high! The top of the Keyboard is then rolled over towards you, and the Keyboard is laid upside down on the Palm Rest Cover. General example, (The screws in the Battery Compartment, may have 3 of them marked for the Keyboard. Usually has a K with an Arrow, or Key, or Keyboard, or Keyboard symbol. Not always though) Laying Keyboard over does not gain you access, to the motherboard side of the Video Cable? Palm Rest Cover has a metal Static shield in the middle, that prevents this? Then the Palm Rest Cover needs to be removed. I will wait until you post back in a Comment to guide. Connections of Video Cable to LCD screen, and screen Inverter: The thin plastic frame in front of the LCD screen, is the Display Bezel. It comes off. There are 4 rubber, or plastic screw covers, to remove on Top. There are 4 more on Bottom. These are gently pried off with a plastic tool. Just ease up under the bottom edge of the Screw Cover, and gently pry up. They should be held on with a type of rubber cement. If carefully taken off, they can be reused. (I GENTLY stick them to the Display Bezel for safekeeping) Remove all 8 Philips head screws. The Display Bezel has Tabs on it. These Tabs snap into Latches, in the Display Cover. (Top cover of laptop when closed) Suggest lay the Display Assembly back as far as you can. Then cut a piece of cereal box, or thick construction paper, or etc; to just fit inside the inside edges of the Display Bezel. This will protect the LCD screen from your fingernails. The Display Bezel is then slightly flexed. I suggest start at the Middle/Inside edge, of the Right side of the Display Bezel. Ease a fingertip under the bezel, and then ease along going down, towards the bottom of the bezel. Can't get your fingertip in? Move over a little. You are at a Tab/Latch. When you start removing the bezel, you will hear the Tabs releasing from the Latches. Pop, pop, pop. Almost sounds like you are breaking something. Use care, you won't. Once you go around the Bottom, then come up the Left side. When enough of the bezel has popped loose, the bezel should just come on off. You can see the metal Screen Frame, going around the LCD screen. There are Brackets on each side. Remove the screws holding the Screen Frame/LCD screen, from the Display Cover. Tilt the top of the LCD screen towards you, and see if you can access the LCD screen side, of the Video Cable.

I think I don't need to test my laptop with an external VGA monitor ... But anyway the test I can do it's not problem I have a LCD monitor with VGA cable . But that part where I need to change cable I can't do becaus I han't worket with the laptop as you and it is difficult for me .....But if you can do any video tutorial how to do this I think i can do ....

  • joecoolvette
joecoolvette Jan 16, 2013 Screen Inverter: The screen Inverter is a small circuit board. It converts the power (Electricity), from the laptop; for the LCD screen, and CCFL backlight. It is mounted behind the Display Bezel, and towards the bottom of the LCD screen. An example, Is the Video Cable connection to screen Inverter, tight? All 3 connections physically checked for tightness, the laptop is partially assembled far enough, that you can turn it on, and check. Check to see if loose connections of Video Cable, was the problem. Still no? Then remove the Video Cable. It needs to have a continuity test performed, with a multimeter set to OHM's. (1K) EVERY wire in the Video Cable needs to be checked for continuity. No access to multimeter? Then take the Video Cable down to the nearest small computer shop, and have the resident tech check it. Shouldn't cost very much. (Coupla' bucks) (Also an assistant should gently wiggle the cable in the middle, while a continuity test is being performed. If you get an intermittent reading on the multimeter, there is a broken wire in the Video Cable. Replace ) Video Cable checks out? Usually the problem is the Video Cable, or screen Inverter, with a temporary 'White Out'. However may lead to be a bad LCD screen, also. To test a screen Inverter requires a sensitive multimeter. Read fairly expensive, For this reason, plus the ease of accessibility to replace, plus the low cost; the screen Inverter is usually replaced. If the screen Inverter replacement doesn't cure the problem, the problem is the LCD screen. L-O-N-G diagnosis, huh? Better to diagnose, then just assume it's an expensive LCD screen, and replace the screen. Only to find out the problem was a loose connection of the Video Cable. That would bite, huh? For additional questions please post in a Comment. Regards, joecoolvette

Sure Lumi! I can give you lots of information. However it won't be exact info for your laptop. BUT, the info IMHO easily crosses over. Remember what I stated about the 3 main manufacturers. There are only subtle differences. 1) 2) 3) 4)
