Question about Lexmark X5470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Lexmark 5400 communication

I have installed the software but the printer still will not communicate with the computer and i have set all the necessary settings also when i update the drivers from lexmark the computer freezes and i have to remove the program in safe mode pleas help ?

    Reducdant but are you sure that the drivers that you downloaded are for the version of windows that you are running?

Have your printer OFF while you turn on your computer, and only after the computer comes on, then connect the printer cable. That's what I do.

My Lexmark x5495 will not print. I get the message enable bidirectional communication. I am running XP operating system. What is the solution?


Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/cgn74X. Download and install the software. With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

Computer will not communicate with printer


Ckeck in control panel & se if the driver software installed. It should be listed in Add/remove programs. If it is, power up the piinter & load windows Vista update service. See if Vista has any patches for you're printer. If no, goto Lexmark & go to the driver section for you're P4350 printer software for Vista. While in Vista update, install any updates listed.

Creat a folder on you're desktop & down load the latest driver software in-to the folder you created. Uninstall any Lexmark software that might have been in add/remove programs. Install the driver software you downloaded. If all this still fails, call Lexmark since this is a new printer. The number should be in you're manul. Or you can go here for free support.
