Question about Olympus Camedia C-60 Zoom Digital Camera

Will not power on

When I slide the cover over, it does not turn on anymore. No ding, no lights, nothing. I had misplaced the battery charger, and replaced that, also got a new battery and charged it up. Neither the old nor new battery will make it power on, though both are fully charged. No liquids have entered the battery compartment, it has not been dropped on anything but thick carpet (and worked a while after that happened). There doesn't appear to even be dust in there, and nothing is loose or broken that I can see. I am desperate to get this fixed because I need high resolution images for my ebay sales- I can't afford to get a new camera- so whatever I can do to get this fixed ASAP I will do. Up until this unexplained malfunction, it's been the best camera I've ever used so I am very frustrated.

Re: Will not power on

I cannot find the fuse online. I think you need to open it up, identify the fuse, and then take it to an electronics store to see if they have a suitable replacement. If they don't, try an electronics/camera repair shop. Presumably any place capable of making such repairs knows where to get the parts, and will likely be able to sell you one. They may charge twice what it's worth, but fuses are cheap to start with, and it beat paying someone to repair it.

Re: Will not power on

It is likely that the internal fuse has blown. Sometimes they just go for no apparent reason. The fuse requires soldering to replace, so it is best to find a shop to do it for you. The cost would be $89 at my shop and probably similar elsewhere.

My canon xs battery was charging for 3 hour with no light on. When I put it back in the camera nothing's improved. It's not turning on at all

Make sure the battery is securely in the charger.

If nothing changes you should try replacing the battery. It could be faulty. if that doesn't work, then the charger likely has an issue. Probably a loose wire or fizzled circuit
If you're feeling adventurous and know what youre doing you can take a look inside, but i wouldn't suggest it.

hopefully your warrenty covers the battery and charger. replacing them or returning the camera are essentially your only options at this point.

Olympus u770 sw 7.1 No power, battery fully charged, lens cover is open. No lights no screen nothing. Camera has been perfect for almost 4 years just shut down whilst being used hence lens cover open. Any...

Sorry to hear about your issue with the Olympus mju 770 SW. There's a couple of things you can check and try, before thinking about a repair or binning the camera and getting a new model.

1. Check the contacts on the battery are clean?

2. Clean the contacts inside the cameras battery compartment are clean?

3. Is the charger actually charging the battery? Try another battery or see if you can test the existing battery with a multi-meter to check there is some power in it.

It is fairly common for chargers to fail, so it's worth checking out but don't go spending money on a new charger unless you know it will fix your problem.

Hope this helps

Battery is not charging is it likely to be battery or charger

If you noticed the battery holding a charge less and less it is probably the battery...does the charger have a light? if it does and it doesnt turn on anymore it is likely the charger. Good luck!

Olympus battery charger flashes red when battery is inserted.

"Another way I found was when this happens, to push the battery to the point the light will turn on, when it starts flashing slide it off then back on. Do this a few times so it charges a little, then you should be fine to leave it on."

I tried to do this with my LI-10C Olympus charger and it worked..The blinking red light turns to solid red..Thanks for the info...Now I won't be bothering to buy a new batt.or have my charger checked..

Not turning on

The batteries probably need to be replaced. Be sure that any batteries seat properly and tightly. You may have to tape the battery door shut with strong tape to keep the contact tight. This type of damage is expensive to repair compared to the cost of the cameras. You can take it in and have it looked at, but be sure to get an estimate and then you can make an educated decision on whether to repair or replace it.

Best wishes to you and Thank you for using Fix Ya!

No power !

As indicated in solution #2 dirt deposits in the channel that prevents the cover from moving the switch to turn on the camera. To get at the channel to clean out the **** remove the 6 small screws (two on each side and two shorter screws on the bottom of the outside of the camera). Remove only the six screws that are holding the front of the camera body on. The silver band seperates the front of the body from the rear. Wiggle off the front of the camera body. With the lense cover closed you can wiggle off the plastic inside of the front cover from the exterior of the body. By doing this you'll expose the track that the lense cover rides in. Notice that the top track moves back to contact a black plastic switch. **** will typically be in the channel preventing the lid from contacting the black switch. Clean it all out and reassemble. Camera should work fine.
