You should get a plug and play sound card fixed on your system, then you can enjoy the sound on your system

Speakers don't work quite right

Check first to make sure impedance marked on speakers is same as original---two sets of positive and negative terminals suggests original ones were dual element speakers----

If for example original were marked 8 ohm and you put 16 or 32 ohm speakers in----volume will be greatly diminished and even distorted.

This is only a suggestion as I do not know what original speakers were or what new ones are----but the key is originals had two sets each of connections.

could be a driver issue, but I'm inclined to suspect damaged sound chip. I would personally install a separate sound card, in most cases, better quality sound anyway

Double check all of your connections and make sure everything is properly connected in the back of the sub woofer. Next, make sure that your audio jacks are plugged into the correct audio ports on *********** board, this is very import to make sure that sound is coming out and going to the proper channels. If the front speakers still do not work, recheck your audio settings on the motherboard. If all is folly and they still don't work, i would still recommend the same speaker set, as for the price they are amazing quality. But I will include a few other options within your price range.

Sounds like electrical interference. If you can, try moving the speaker wires. They are like antennas. They might help to find the offending device. Otherwise try moving electrical devices away from the speakers and wire. Do it one device at a time so you will know which one is causing the problem.

I've just brought on too, I thought the same thing, have to use headphones or hook it up to a speaker otherwise I strain to hear anything. Was also disappointed to find no Media Controller software pre-installed. Overall love this portable computer.
