SOURCE: JVM1850BH02 Microwave completely shut down, not working after...

The extreme heat has opened up one of the thermostats / thermal cutouts (TCOs) in the oven.

If it was the bottom TCO or magnetron TCO, you should be able to access them by just removing the control panel.

But if it's the one on top of the cavity, the oven will have to come out of the wall, then you need to pull of the outer cover..

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

You should locate and look this over first.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

MCD1611W New, popping popcorn in glass MW corn popper. 3-4 minutes to pop. After popped I open the door and after a few seconds the MW shuts down completely, no lights, no response to pad pushing.

Popcorn is a low-moisture food which can cause a microwave to overheat, as can a failure of the cooling fan or blocked vents.

You should always turn a paper plate upside-down on the turntable (slightly off-center for better heating) and place the popcorn container on top of that.

The paper plate elevates the popcorn for better exposure to the energy and protects the turntable from excessive heat.

Placing food off-center instead of in the center increases exposure to the energy and prevents the same spot on the turntable from being overheated repeatedly, which leads to material fatigue and cracking.

It's also a good idea to put about 1/2 cup of water in a 1-cup microwave-safe container in the corner of the oven when cooking low-moisture foods like popcorn, bacon, and potatoes.

The microwave's magnetron has a thermal protector (thermostat, TCO, or thermal fuse) attached to it.

If the magnetron gets too hot, it can be damaged or destroyed, so the thermal protector opens and disconnects the power to the whole oven.

If it is a resettable device, the power will be restored when the device cools. If it is not resettable, the device must be replaced.

Emerson Microwave MW8115SS --

I would suggest you check the door switches inside the microwave oven just below the keypad, rectangular in shape. The switches are normally open or closed, set meter to ohms, unhook lead from one side and test with door open and closed. If readings are the same both ways the switch is defective. "check all switches"

Where is the fuse in under-counter miccrowave?

remove the vent grill at the top, may have to slide to left after screws are removed. then you will see a screw holding the control panel, remove. then slide the panel up slightly and the panel should come off. behind the panel you fine a 20 amp 250 vac glass type fuse. remove and replace. if your MW works cool,,,,, if it does not you may need to call for service.

Heats slow, and then somtimes alarm eee shuts oven off

I'd check the electrical requirements and maybe test it out on a 20A circuit with nothing else connected. it may be an electrical issue at the house where not enough power is getting through.

I've also seen issues where the wires are loose in the breaker box that cause issues.

if you can take the microwave to a friend's house for testing that'll tell you if it's the microwave or your electric that's the issue. If it works fine there then you have to track down your power issue. If it has the same issues there, take it back or replace it.

Easytronic deloghi microwave, all electrical functions working ok but does not warm food. please help

Please check the start button if its functional. The timer must be counting once you press the start button. Check also the air filter if it has dirt and dusts . Some ovens are equipped with sensors that disabled the unit once the air filter becomes dirty.

Completely dead. no light, no heat, electric plugs are good bot no action within the fmv158f microwave oven.

some models have a glass fuse that may blow. take the two screws off the top holding the grill on and remove. also unplug the mw and rub a screwdriver across the plug ends to discharge the capasitor.there should be one screw holding the control pannel on remove it and slowly lift the panel up and off. look for a glass fuse. check it with a meter or bring it to a hardware store. hopefully it is your problem.if not you should call for service.

Everything works except the cooking part/no heating/turntable not turning, help!

you may have gotten a power surge and that can cause some funny things to happen, 1st is there power to the oven, 2nd if so there may be an internal fuse protector built in to the oven, check with the manual for anything of that sort listed. if not you may have to take it in and have it repaired by a pro. there is a lot of voltage in these ovens and unless you know what you are doing a person could get hurt
