Question about Kenmore 500 3.5 cu. ft. Top-Load Washing Machine 2952

1 Answer

Washing machine will not move from cycle to cycle unless you move it along yourself each time. I think it is washing okay, but would go and go until you move it along.

SOURCE: My Kenmore 90's series washing machine will not

The timer you have has a bunch of small gears inside. The case is made of plastic. Yes the timer is most likely shot.To get the timer off you grab the black plastic rod in back out and this releases the knob. Then you can access the screws holding the timer on.ec1c7f4.jpg

SOURCE: my washing machine will not work on any of the spin cycles, it seems to just sit there until the timer moves the dial to the next mark

It's likely the safety switch in the lid which keeps the machine from spinning when the lid is up. If the switch is bad it sends a false signal that the lid is up.

SOURCE: Washing machine will not complete spin cycle

OK, what you are experiencing is a timer mechanism fault. the timer motor is malfunctioning. anytime you have to manually advance the timer knob, this will signal a fault within the control mech. this is easily fixed by, replacing the timer control module. i will place a link to the actual part needed to fix this issue. you can also purchase this timer on line at this site if you wish.

The pump and connecting lines could be choked with debris the filter didn't catch.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Leak from lower door section and from powder door thing.

This could be a partially or completely seized/failed pump.
Before a machine goes in to a spin cycle, it runs the pump to empty all the water out. It used to be quite common that the machine does not check all the water has gone before spinning, it just runs the pump for a set time which if the pump is okay, is long enough to empty it.
If a spin is then started with quite a lot of water left in the drum, it gets thrown everywhere including back out of the powder/conditioner draw. Also the sheer strain of spinning a large amount of water can force water through an otherwise okay door seal.
Unless you are comfortable working on the machine yourself, call an engineer.

Washer Doesn't move from cycle to cycle

this washer has a problem with the lid hinge screws coming loose. check the left hand hinge and you will find the screws loose.
this cause the lid switch to not engage and then nothing will happen until it thinks the lid is closed.
try to tighten the screws and listen to see if the switch "clicks" when you open and close the lid.
that should fix it until the screws come loose again.

Will not drain or spin

Unless you jarred the machine it's the timer. You can check this by bypassing the lid switch and seeing if it will cycle.

Maytag Washer Getting stuckon wash cycle

the possibility of it being the timer is most likely..as the rest of the cycles remain ok.. if you require a timer, you can get one here at this link..(click the link here) http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=HAV4657EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1

please be aware that you will need the machine serial number in order for them to issue you with the correct part/s you will require.. parts are cross referenced with the serial number.

these diagrams will also enlarge in order for you to maintain your machine by yourself at little but the cost of the parts required... but please DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR YOURSELF if you think you may not have the technical know how to follow these technical drawings..hope this helps

First check the fuse. It might be blown. if so, you can Call Customer Service to replace the fuse or replace it by yourself: lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace. Sorry i can help u more.
