Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, check/replace the networking/Ethernet cable. Thereafter, remove the modem and do not connect yet. Proceed with the installation of the router. If the router will install then correctly, then connect the modem and see if it will work, otherwise, check the possibility of both the modem and the router have their DHCP enabled and/or sharing the same IP address.

Pls post back results. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

    The connection/system works. As you have posted if they are not, then you would not be on line.

    I still believe that a conflict of some sort exist between the modem and the router. Pls post back your modem's brand and model.

    Additionally:

    • press your Windows key + R;

    • type "cmd" less the quotes, OK button;

    • new window, type "ipconfig /all" again less the quotes;

    • press enter;

    • list/post the IP addresses/details.
    Cheers.

Error 322 is Ethernet Related - Make sure your computer is plugged into the router via an ethernet cable and that you have the latest ethernet drivers installed for your computer

You need to connect the router to computer using a network cable to configure it for the first time.

    You need to use an ethernet cable to connect the router, then follow the instructions starting from page 12 on the manual below.

    Untitled

    There are two ways to configure this router, one is web configuration, the other one is using a disk.

    Better to use Web configuration.

    In any case you need to use an ethernet cable to configure.

    An alternative way to configure the router is opening the Web configuration panel, calling your ISP (internet service) support nuber. Thy will guide you step by step through the configuration process.

    Ethernet cable is a kind of network cable, it is the one enclosed in modem box, with a squared RJ45 plug.

    If yyou used cables and you get the error then

    1. Cable is broken

    2. Network card on computer is not functioning (most likely)

    3. Router is faulty.

    Go to device manager and check if LAN card (not wireless) is listed unde re network devices, and does not have a yellow mark.

    I told you, that is probably a network card on computer that is not working, see my previous comment.

Make sure you have the latest firmware as this might help with your dropped connections. Also try to make a DHCP Reservation for each computer connected to your network (p. 32 in the User Manual), as that can also help prevent dropped connections.

Download the latest firmware ver. 1.23NA to your local computer. Connect your DGL-4500 router via a wired connection (ethernet) to your computer and install the firmware update following instructions in the user manual.

Router password is the password to access the router settings.
SSID is the network name. When you try to connect to the wireless network on your laptop, you will see this network name.
If your network is secured network then it will ask you for the network key or the password. You need to enter the ' security key '.

I have a D-Link DGL 4500 wireless router. I have

If you don't see any devices connected in the DHCP client list on the router interface even when you are sure of the devices being connected, only a firmware update or a re-flashing of firmware can help. You can find the latest firmware available on the d-link support site. You can verify the model and version numbers and download the corresponding firmware. This is only fix.
