Qubz external optical drive not recognised

There are two cables provided with the Qubz external drive. I have vague memories that both are needed to get my netbook to read the drive but I can't see where or how they fit - the obvious slots just don't seem to achieve anything.

SOURCE: new memory not recognised when installed into spare slot

"Put it in and reboot"... be sure the aptop is OFF when you add memory! Otherwise, you can damage BOTH memory and laptop! Once memory is installed there is no "trick" to get it recognized. If it is good and meets the BIOS specs, it will be recognized and registered after a cold boot.

1. Be sure the memory is inserted properly (both clips on the sides are flush with the half-moon tabs between memory and metal clips).

2. Sometimes on a memory slot that has been empty a long time (and gets a bit corroded) it is a good idea to insert the memory, remove it again and reinsert 5 or 6 times (only) to clean the contacts.

3. If number 1 and 2 have been done, and you still have this error, then there is a problem with the memory:

It may be the wrong speed (PC100 instead of PC133, etc)

It may be too LARGE for the BIOS to use (all laptops have maximum memory per slot specs that must be observed, because the laptop cannot see memory that is greater than its specified capacity.

In any case, check the manual or the website for your laptop, to get the specifications for memory type AND capacity per slot, and TOTAL memory if you have two slots -or memory soldered on board).

SOURCE: pc died

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
Hope this helps.....

SOURCE: PowerBook G4 discs won't get snatched in discs just float freely

Yes, it sounds like the disk transport mechanism is shot.  You can try www.macsales.com for a replacement internal, but those are usually a) pricey and b) a REAL pain to install (LOTS of small parts and such) - www.ifixit.com has real nice tear-down guides for just this purpose.  Or, for lots cheaper, you could just use an external drive.  Good chance to upgrade to a faster drive/one with more features.  Go for a bus-powered one to cut down on the extra cords.

Need a driver for my external samsung 500g

Typically, Samsung drives have driver software recorded on the drive itself. Assuming it's a USB device, all you need do is connect it to a USB port - the cable should have been provided (it's a standard anyway, available cheaply at any local computer store or even $2 shop), plug it in and turn it on. Windows should recognise it and install a driver which should be sufficient for most people. Once that happens, use explorer to access the drive for detailed documentation. If it doesn't get recognised - that's another problem. Need more details.

Sanei tablet 3it is not running on laptop pc hp

To connect up a tablet with a laptop you need to connect them with a USB cable.

On plugging in the cable with the tablet powered up, you should see two things.

1. A question on the tablet as to whether you want to use memory disc mode or diagnostic(ADB) mode. Choose Memory disc mode.

2. You should see on the PC laptop it recognise that an external device is connected, it may recognise it as a phone or a memory drive.

If neither of these things is happening it is probably the cable at fault.

The tablet should then start providing the pc laptop with the drivers it requires to be recognised. If this does not happen, then the fault is with the tablet and you have to consult your supplier.

You should end up with at least one memory drive which you can browse through with the PC's file manager. The data will be on the tablet.

Pxe-e61: media test failure, check cable acer extensa 542

Your computer tries to "boot" from several devices:
* floppy disk
* CD/DVD optical device
* disk-drive
* external CD/DVD
* USB memory stick
* PXE ("Pre eXecution Environment)

To use PXE, you need "media" -- a network cable connecting yur computer to a "boot-server". The "media test faiure, check cable" reports that no network-cable exists, or that it does exist WITHOUT being connected to a boot-server.

Probably, your computer failed to boot from a DEAD disk-drive, and then tried floppy/CD/USB before checking PXE.

Replace the disk-drive.

Drive not recognising MO disk. Orange light flashing endless.

Your drive is not spinning up because of ither a read channel calibration error- or a focus servo error- assumimng your using the same media you always have been- and its not REALLY dusty.

Read Cal failure is caused by the controller and the Focus Servo Failure is caused by the optcs module-

repair cost $285 for either.

Seagat 500GB Portable GO external HDD not recognised on PC

first of all you should try it on deferent pc , if its ok then that leads us to insufficient power provided through usb ports , try using back usb ports not the ON-front, and if the problem still try using dual-usb cable like thishttp://www.cooldrives.com/usb-power-cable-mini-b.html and if the external hdd doesn't work at all it might be the usb controller board inside the hdd cage needs to be changed if you cant find a similar one you may buy a new empty cage

External drive won't spin to burn CD but....

Thank you for the feedback. This issue seemed to start after I upgraded to Mac OS 10.4. Previously, I was running on OS 10.28 and had used the drive plugged in the same way for over two years.

Are you asking if I have a USB cable connected to my Firewire device or if I simply have other USB cables connected to my computer? Are you suggesting that I disconnect other USB devices? Your comment on "two cables" leads me to believe that.

The confusing part of this for me is that I can read a CD from the external drive and the CD does show up on my desktop.

Before I posted the first time last night, I turned off the drive, disconnected the Firewire cable from both it and my CPU, and reversed the process.

Could this just be a drive that has crapped itself out?

New Maxtor 3200

Hi, This is a common problem with external storage. Based on your post/description: 1. Your laptop does not recognize the external hard drive via its USB connection - try on a different computer - if it is still a no go, then it's not a PC problem; 2. Try replacing the cable - again if a no go, so it's not an interface/cable problem; 3. That leaves you only with the PS3200 itself as the possible at fault. An external hardrive would consist of 2 main parts, the electronic board and the hard disk itself. The board seldom (if ever) fails. Its function is to provide conversion/interface from the SATA/IDE connectors of the HD to the out USB/Firewire. The HD more often than not fails. Most external storage uses a standard HD inside the enclosure. Your possible options: a. Claim warranty/replacement; b. Replace the HD only; c. Physically remove the HD and connect it directly inside a desktop either as IDE or SATA and run manufacturer's diagnostic and/or third party recovery software; d. Seek services of professional data recovery firms (if data/files are mission critical); Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
