Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

R51 2887 NQ2 Thinkpad (not under warranty) not powering on. The problem appeared 3 months ago for the first time, but going through some forums, the problem got temporarily solved by removing the battery and repeatedly pressing the power button and then running the laptop on AC power without batteries. But now the laptop is recalcitrant to power on. I have tried changing the BIOS battery and powering on the laptop without the memory module and the hard drive. Without Success. I am disinterested in replacing the system board since I had the same problem in warranty and got the systemboard replaced but reappeared just after 4-5 months after replacement.

The system boards are pretty cheap, but they aren't the easiest to replace. If you don't want to replace it, I think you would be happiest with a new system. The good news is all of your data is easily retrievable.

Go through my guide entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

However since the computer was only purchased a month ago I would say that it is still under warranty. Claim warranty support.

Take care!

If your talking about the tower case you can get any cool aftermarket one here, from $40.00. If you're talking about the monitor or screen and its under warranty you need to contact the monitor's manufacturer.

Hp scanjet 3300c will not power up any more .... worked fine the last time used .... is it a matter of replacing a fuse .... can i do it myself?

Of course, check all the power connections and be sure it isnt a bad power adapter, there isnt usually fuses in a printer that can be easily replaced. If its under warranty, use it and get it fixed.

If its just plain unrepairable, just get a new one at walmart or somewhere. I got a new HP all in one that hasnt had any problems since i got it 6 months ago.

Avoid Lexmark or dells printers, They ****

Power unit is broken every 2 months

Are you referring to the power supply of the PC itself? If so, what has been done to repair it every two months? How old is the PC, as it would appear that you got a bad machine, and it should be replaced by HP/Compaq if it is still under warranty. Their policy is 3 times in to the shop for repair = replacement...

If you are not under warranty, please provide more detail regarding the exact models involved, what power supply / other parts you have used, and how it is being determined the power supply is bad. It sounds as though there is another piece causing this, if the same thing has been replaced repeatedly, but we will need more info to help if that is the case.

Please post back if you need more help, otherwise thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Broken Power Supply

hello!

I guess that the computer have a one year warranty, You can claim a warranty anytime you want. But if has no warranty at all then you can repair the PSU by your own, Open the PSU and find any busted parts or maybe the fuse blownout that is very cheap you can replace that by your own. If afraid to do so, then let the repairman do it for you.
If no hastle it is recommended to by new PSU for your system.

Hope this help, best regards, melnavz
