Connect existing modem to the router
reset router (located at the back)
connect computer to one of the 4 ports of the router
run internet connection wizard & choose "computer is connected to a gateway / internet connection is always ON"

for wireless:
connect a computer to the router hard-wired
for your router, open a browser and access 192.168.1.1
leave it blank for the username and admin for the password field
click wireless tab, change the Wireless Network Name (SSID):
click save settings
next click Security Mode: and choose WPA2 Personal
make a password in the WPA Shared Key: field
click save settings

on the computer, go to view available wireless network & click the wireless network name you made, connect, enter password when prompted.

good to go

How to install a wireless router without installation CD

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

No installation CD

Lost or Unable to use Router Configuration CD Problem: var js_3;function initPsDisplay(){js_3 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_3","type":"FormField","w_id":3},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"description","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_3.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay);
NETGEAR does not replace lost or broken CDs because the Smart Wizard installation and configuration utility on the CD is already built into your router management software. There is no need to download anything to replace the CD - everything you need is in your router. This is true even if:
  • the CD that shipped with the router has been lost or cannot be read, or
  • errors occur when running the configuration program, or
  • the router is not connected to a computer using the Windows operating system.

Workaround: var js_4;function initPsDisplay(){js_4 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_4","type":"FormField","w_id":4},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"solution","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_4.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay);
To access the Smart Wizard installation and configuration program on your router:
  1. Connect your router to a computer by plugging one end of an Ethernet Cable into any of the four LAN ports on the back of your router.
  2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
  3. To install your router, simply click on the "Setup Wizard" link at the top of the left-hand navigation menu once you are logged into your router.
A video walk-through of installing and configuring your router using the Smart Wizard is available at http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12873.

Lost installation CD for Belkin 54

You can configure this router manually by hooking up one of your computer using an ethernet cable to the router(of course modem is also connected to the WAN/Intrernet port of the Belkin), access the Admin page of the router by using Internet Explorer or Firefox, on the address bar type http://192.168.2.1 by default there is no password so you will be able to access the configuration page, now you can setup the router to match your ISP's configuration and the rest is up to you. Here's a link where you can download the manual for your 54G router.
