Question about Audio Players & Recorders
You will need a "Y" cable: RCA male X2 to 1/8" stereo jack. Connect the RCA jacks to the Sony unit where it's marked "MD deck", and the 1/8" stereo jack to the "Microphone" input on your computer. If you are using a laptop, and don't have a "mic" input (1/8"), you will need to get a USB adapter like a Behringer UCA200 unit. That will actually be much easier in the long run.

To isolate the source of the problem disconnect all speakers and turn on the unit, if it works that means that you have to check cables and speakers. If the problem remains that means the problem is with the unit. Professional technician is required: The problem is at the power output section (Defective out put IC or Voltage error?)
