Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

Open Question

Transfer videos from computer to camera

I am trying to transfer .mpg format videos/movie clips from my computer to the camera storage, so that I can then connect the camera to the TV and watch them on TV. Is this possible? If yes, how? What are the steps I need to follow? So far I have tried converting the videos on my computer to MGP1 and MPG2 formats and save them on the memory stick pro duo, but the camera is not able to read/play either of them.

Is this a limitation imposed by Sony itself where it can play on the cam screen or TV only the videos shot from the camera? I want to be able to play using camera on TV other MPG video files from my computer transferred to the cam.

Everio movie editing

First check sound settings on control panel, ensure volume is not at minimum and computer audio is not muted. Test playing a CD.

this is usually due to Media Player or whatever player you use on your pc, not having the right codecs to decompress sound from camera file.

Usually you sort it out upgrading media player, you can download update from links below.

  1. Windows Media Player 10
  2. Cumulative update for Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista

How do I transfer the mini DVD to Movie Maker

With your Recorded DVD-R Disc "Finalized", and in the DVD player on your computer, you should be able to browse to your videos with Movie Maker.

In MovieMaker, on the left side where it lists:
Movie Tasks
1. Capture Video
Capture from Video device
Import video . . .

You want to "Import Video", by clicking that and browsing to the DVD-R to find what could be MPG files, or VOB files. They're both MP2 DVD format video and audio files.

Tip: Right Clicking in the Import Video Dialogue Box where the files are listed and selecting View / Thumbnails, will present a view of the scenes in each video.

Can't transfer video from Camera to the laptop

I phoned canon with a similar problem.
Poss reasons: 1 A clash between codecs - try removing as many codecs as poss then installing something like Ace mega codecs (this did not work for me). 2. Has the card been formatted on the computer ? I have since reformatted my card using low level format option on the camera. It has worked fine with 2 video clips I tried today - but I still cannot play my earlier problem files.
