Asus p4v8x-x bad bios checksum checking for floopy floppy not found checking for cd-rom start reading P4V8X-X.ROM could not find P4V8X-X.ROM

Hi, you can download the bios file here:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P4V8X-X&p=1&s=15

Please select your windows version.
Select bios and click on global for download.
You have to unzip the file before you install it.

You might have to change the cmos battery out with
a new one:

ghost2233_59.jpg So the bios can remember its settings.
Thats why you get a bad bios checksum.
A reminder flashing the bios with a wrong one WILL destroy the mainboard.

This problem could be caused by a near flat BIOS battery. Replace the BIOS battery and go into the BIOS configuration and set the Date and Time etc.

No power, no beeps, blank screen

Hi adonis_dion,

There could be many things that could stop the board from turning on, Determining if it works is like detective work. What I do, is take everything off the board to start. Then add the minimum to start a board to see if it will start. That's one drive (cd or otherwise) the CPU, and one bank of memory. (that's not a required eliminate, but it helps avoid beep codes) Also, make sure you have your pin's set on the board absolutely correct, or that could be your problem to begin with. Now, you should get the power supply on, and the cpu. If those don't power up, it's then either one of the five elements. The CPU, Power supply, Ram, Drive, or the motherboard. The next step is to replace each one of the first four to see if you get any change. If no change, then I usually get another board that I can test the first four, and make sure that they work. After that, then I say you have a DOA Board

Good Luck

New RAM, computer stays on intel screen and occasionally continually beeps

Hi DeezKelb, The continous beeps you are hearing is the Award bios telling you the memory is not seated correctly. Please remove the memory & re-seat the two DIMMS.
See Award bios beep codes, click on this link.
http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm

If the beeping continues. Either boot into the bios & reset from there or reset the bios by moving cmos/bios jumper page 1-16 in you're user manual to clear/reset the bios. (Remember to set the jumper back to default). Boot the PC & enter bios to setup you're prefered settings.
If you're board still continues to beep download a free program called Memest86 & run the software which will test you're memory. http://www.memtest.org/ Scroll down the page till you are under the three Screenshots. Listed there is ** Memtest86+ V2.01 (21/02/2008) ** typed in red.
You have a choice of downloading software to creat either a bootable floppy disk or a bootable CD disk.
.
Bootable floppy; Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win)

Bootable CD; Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)
You're Asus board can only run up to 2GB Max memory.
Main download web site for ASUS P4V8X-X.

Good Luck!

P4v8x-x bios dont boot

your problem is in video card, try to remove and clean the connectors (bronze color) with an eraser. then re-install, if the problem still occurs try to hear beep (warning sound). we have different sound for the installed hardwares such as the memory card, video card and the boot sound. if you have installed an expansion video card remove this and use your on board video card to determine if the video card you installed is defective. and if you are using the on board video card install a new video card
