Hi, try switching your tv to channel 3 or 4 and see if that works- there should be a switch on the back of your DVD player beside the Coaxial Cable outputs-it will allow you to use Channel 3 or 4 as the default to play dvd's. I hope that helps-if more detail or wiring diagram is needed-please leave make and model numbers and i'll try to help.
Cheers and have a Happy Holiday Season!

SOURCE: dvd wont read discs dvd or cd
is the drive still recognised by the system of the tv? If so it may simply be a dist situation (that's what happened tro me recently) unless it was jolted heavilly just before it froze. I asume other disks won't read either. You could try a dvd cleaning disk but I found them to be pretty **** and an aerosol cleaner works a lot better. Get one from an electrical component supplier or even some department stores stock them. Be sure to use the right product, i.e. for blowing dust out of electrical systems, as you don't want to go spraying just anything in there. A friend of mine once used a car 'easy start' to try and do a similar job and he ended up buying a new cd player (it was an in car player). Like I said it worked for me.... I was ignoring my intuition for ages looking to get components replaced etc. Finally I gave in and ended up kicking myself for not having listened earlier!!!

You will either have a fault with the inverter board which drives the backlights or a faulty backlight in the screen. If the problem is a backlight then a replacement screen is the only cure. One or the other is breaking down after it has been opn for a certain period of time, have an engineer call out & check with a tester if it is a screen problem.
