My Brand New Webcam Isn't Working On Windows 8; As It Did On Windows 7

It's A 1.3 MP WebCam For PC By Gear Head. It Was Working Great When I Had Windows 7 H.P. Since I Upgraded To Windows 8 Pro, It No Longer Works. Every time I Turn It On, It Makes The PC Go Off And It Reboots. This Has Happened Close To 12 times. Any And All Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated. It Claims That You Don't Need A Driver, It Came With An Install Disk Which Had Install Something Called: WebCam Videocap. I Guess It Is A Desktop Short Cut. I Haven't Seen Any Drivers. I'd Like To Get This Working Again A.S.A.P.

SOURCE: webcam driver

If you have it still installed on your old computer and still have that computer you may be able to tell what brand and model it is from there. If it's a USB webcam you might need to plug it into the old computer for this.

In the Mac OS your webcam would probably show up on your computer's desktop as it's own icon and tell you what brand it is and possibly model as well.

If you're working in Windows, you should be able to view it from your device manager. Let me know if you're working on a Mac or other OS and need instructions on how to look at the webcam's properties in there. There also may be associated software installed on your old computer that says the brand name and/or model to give you clues.

Often in Windows webcams have software that runs automatically when the computer's on and it's plugged in (sometimes even when it's not plugged in) that also makes a little icon (picture) in the bottom right of a Windows screen, by the time. Hovering over the icons that look like your webcam should allow you to pick the correct one to open and identify what webcam you have.

If you don't still have it installed or don't have access to your old computer, you may be able to recognize it on common webcam sites. Logitech makes popular webcams & their site has pics of their different models so you can get the correct download here: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/support_downloads/downloads/webcams/&cl=us,en

All this is assuming that you tried plugging it in already. If you haven't tried it, you might want to as OS's often come pre-loaded with various device drivers.

Hope that helps! :)

SOURCE: eVision 123 Webcam drivers

I just recently had to refind and reinstall mine. This is a link to a driver download for th eVision 123 digital camera that has worked for me running Win XP. Hope it helps. Once you download and unzip the file, restart your computer and go to the setup file to start. for some reason the setup file doesn't seem to want to run until you restart. after the software is installed it works great. see the description on the page for more details of what is included in this setup. hope it works good for you too. And remeber to pay good deeds forward, if you come across someone else who needs this driver offer them the same link. DON'T FORGET TO BACK IT UP TO CD!!!! LOL

Missing webcam driver for windows 8

You stated " was working fine" , It was working fine in windows 7? windows 8? In Device Manager you can do a scan for hardware changes. Does the webcam show? if no, it might show unknown device if you will have to find the drivers for the webcam at the HP drivers and support. You can try a RE-Boot the software will try to locate a driver, if it cannot it wiil ID it as a unknown device, you will have to find the driver, this is common with a new OS or a upgrade on a machine.

Webcam didn't come with a disk for software

It is most likely a trial software that came with the camera. If you let me know what the software is I can find an alternative for you so you will be able to use it.

My webcam isn't working after reformatting to Windows xp

Missing the driver files for the cam. Go to the manufacturers web site and download the driver files for the cam. That should solve the issue. After this is done go to devices and see if the cam is located. Also you can go to Windows updates and see if it is found in the hardware section of any updates. Here is a link for the driver Click Here John

I have a gear head 1.3 mp sound FX webcam, model #WC785SFX. I tried the video, and all I got back was an error saying ''The camera could be in use by another application.'' I don't have any other...

You can try this. Do you have an install disk with your webcam? Some come with the Bus install but remember that all Bus connections do not necessarily install your driver. (If you have the disk and you installed it yourself, then you can uninstall it and try the install again. I don\'t kn ow if your webcam came wtih any software or not. If it did then you can try to install it without the application (driver only). Most webcams are very easy to install so I find that if it doesn\'t work the first time then I have to uninstall and do lit again.

Do you know if your system is a 32 or 64 bit system. Some hardware (this case the webcam) may not be designed for the 64bit technology and may require an updated driver.

If your webcam came with a disk and you have tried to install it a couple of times but it still isn\'t working, then you may have a corrupted disk so you can go online to the manufacturer and download new driver (if you do this you should keep it in a folder where you can find it in the future).

I hope this will help you resolve this issue.
