Try this;
Open Device Manager - Right Click the Sound options - Select Update the Drivers.
It will search for the drivers online.

If problem still occurs then use Driver scanner tool that will search for drivers online.
Download Driver scanner here:

Recently had computer re booted with xp. have no sound coming through at all. any ideas?

If its since the OS has been re-installed it may not have the sound drivers installed. Check on the manufactures website to see if the have any drivers available for Windows XP. Depending on how old the computer is the drivers should be available.
To check if it is a driver is check in Device Manager.
Start > Right click on 'My Computer' and click on 'Properties' You will get a box come up. Click on the 'Hardware' tab. You will see an option for Device Manager. This will show you all the devices that the computer has and will show you if it has the device drivers for it.

When i install audio driver.........this error shows........microsot bus driver should be loaded before installing audio driver

You will need to install the Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver before installing the audio driver for your sound card.
It is generally available (and actually comes with a lot of sound drivers). Try softpedia.

No sounds are coming from my speakers or headphones

Hi friend,

firstly you check, sound driver is available in your system or not,as per your comment i think sound driver is missing in your system.
follw the given instruction and check sound driver is available on not.
1- right clieck of "My Computer" icon
2- Chose the Manage option.
3- Go to the Device Manager option
4-Check Audio, video driver (if yeloow indication are showing in audio, video option)
Thats means sound driver are missing or need to be upgrade.
(Go to control pannel and open "Sound and Audio Devices" properties if all the options under it is disable thats means audio driver is missing)
When you parchase the system you carry a motherboard CD,put in that cd into cd drive and install the appropriate drivers,if you have no Cd in that condition you download the drivers from net,

No sound from speakers

Hi friend,

Fristly you check sound drivers are available on your system or not,go to the control pannel and open the sound option,if it is disable thats means sound drivers are not available on your system,in that condition you need to install sound drivers accourding to your system motherboard,if it is showing enable in that condition you plaug the speaker jack propely as per colour codding in back side of CPU.
When you plug the jack properly one sound pop ups are coming o=in your screen plaese press ok and ok,

Sound device

The reason for the message will be the fact that windows doesnt recognise that there is a sound device available because the driver for your sound card or onboard sound is not built into XP and therefore you will have to find out what make of audio you have and install the relevant driver.
