No this will not be a problem. That insulation will not set fire, maybe blacken but the heat inside the glass is actually less than anywhere else the insulation maybe. Do not try to fix this yourself as the glass is very fragile when handled incorrectly. Leave it as is if it doesn't bother you.
You didn't say, but I will guess that you are using the document feeder. Clean the feeder glass, it's the thin glass strip next to the large flat bed glass. It probably has a dust or dirt spot on it.
If it was a large bang and flash of light as you described this would have been a short circuit, and this is why the circuit breaker tripped. A fuse wouldn't make as much noise and if the fuse blew the breaker wouldn't normally trip. Looking at the picture of the range it looks like the heating elements are under the glass top. This will have to be dismantled and if the short circuit isn't obvious, the elements will have to be tested to find the faulty one.
Sounds like your waterpump has gone bad. Could be fan belt broke that drives waterpump (would explain large rubber pce hanging out) Have a reputable shop look at it for you.
put a big hand ful of loo paper paper down and flush if it disappears the bend is clear. you can also lift the inspection cover outside while doing this and see what is happening there although i it is shaped like an egg it should just keep moving . some people leave more than an egg sized load behind and dont have a problem LOL . hope this helps joe
push the flip button when it open up get yourself a very very tiny small flat screwdriver are pocket knifed on the the display side you look you will see where the glass and the housing has a gap take the flat screwdriver are pocket knifed slide it under the glass work it all around the glass 4 screw under there remove them then take your thumbnail are knife, screwdriver and snap the top housing apart there it is
