Why does my forester roof leak?

Once source of leaks is the rubber tube that runs from the roof line to the rear hatch, and contains the rego plate light, rear window heater and locking circuits. Look at the seals under the hatch hinges. If there's nothing obvious, pull some of the internal headers to see where the water is coming from. May still be the moon roof. Water will run down any available slope.

Can a pro recommend a comperable replacement wall AC only-no heat?

Most air conditioners now are reverse cycle, which means that they can heat as well as cool. Cooling only units were popular many years ago due to the price difference for a reverse cycle. Today, the cost of manufacturing has dropped and it has resulted in cooling only units being virtually finished. I would suggest you get a local air con sales company to come to your house to measure up properly and determine what would be best. There are a lot of factors in installing air conditioning. IE/ The size of the house, the area it will be required to heat / cool, the amount of windows, types of walls, roof etc (Heat loading on the house) Roof and wall insulation etc etc.

Rain comes in and sloshes around the floor in right back seat area. Not sure if it is from after-factory installed sun roof, windshield, or rear window. I've heard that there is a product you can shoot...

Often just like a roof leak in a house, you have to look into the places you wouldnt think of. Could be a leak from the sun roof going down the inside of the roof and down the side to the floor. Does the hatch have a leak in the seal? Sometimes you can have a drain plug up that will let the car pool up. Does the sunroof have a catch pan and drain tubes. My prelude (factory sun roof) had plugged drains and leaked. If you find that you have a leaky Window, DONT USE SILICONE!!! The acids in the silicone will blister your paint and make your car rust. If the rubber (Im assuming that you or someone reading this may have some rubber seals on their car) is pliable enough they make a glass seal that is to seal the glass to the rubber.

Hope this helps some... Dale

I had the loft insulated a couple of months ago but now that the temp has plummeted, the upstairs windows on the north facing house front are running with condensation. Presumably, this means the...

Hi Phil!!
I think your best bet would be a dehumidifier - fixing the plastic would only move the condensation from the glass to your plastic! attics ( or lofts) tend to be humid. However,a dehumidifier would require constant babysitting to keep the reservoir from overflowing, so I would recommend installing a drain hose in the reservoir tank going to the outside so you don't have to watch it. Some models have a drain hose instead of a reservoir and I would recommend a quality unit - it's going to be working overtime if your area is anything like as moist as my area is!! Also - when you pass the hose through the house wall, do not allow the hose end to be against the house as the runoff may rot your siding. Drill your exit hole at a 45 degree angle and let at least 3 inches of hose protrude from the side of the house so it will drip into the yard and not down the side of the house. Also, if you added a small electric heater to the loft there would be much less moisture to trap but your electric bill will be bigger.
Hope this helps!!!
