Question about HP Officejet Pro K5400 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Open Question

Printer is not copying unless i reset cartridage door ,then black cartridge blinks

Love this printer , it will be immortalized in an art installation one day. It got me through two masters , is easy to repair and a workhorse. I take care of it. It will print one copy at a time then the black cartridge flashes . I can fool the printer if I take off the cartridge door and reset. If I reset the door all lights are normal . It started after three copies, then two , then one weird . Need this workhorse.

SOURCE: orange light blinking on check your cartridge keeps coming on

Please go to this link at HP online support and follow the instructions to reseat, and possibly clean your cartridge contacts. Try reseating again if it doesn't work the first time. If you're not successful, you can try to reset the printer by turning it off, uplugging the power cable from the back of the printer, wait a few moments, then reconnect and turn on. Sometimes this will clear the error light.
Don't use the cleaning and alignment tools unnecessarily, as this can compound the buildup of ink around the print head.
If all this fails, you may need to replace the cartridge to get the printer to work...the fault is not always a lack of ink.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

I replaced the cartridage to my lexmark and does not working to make a copy

It could be the cartridge in the carrier. Open the printer cover. Remove both cartridges from the printer. Close the cover. Wipe the cartridge nozzles using a slightly moistened soft cloth to clean it from possible dirts and clogs.
Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, re-insert your cartridges. Also, make sure you are using the correct version of cartridges for your model. Close the cover. Try to print again.

Blinking/flashing lights(orange & green) & won;t pring. Have rebooted computer and unpluged printer. still won't print.

that is because ur head of ur printing cartridge is damaged.

remove ur cartridges black as well as color
n install only black cartridge n check d blinking of lights on ur printer if it doesn't blinks it's mean ur black cartridge is OK but ur blinking of light on ur printer is same it's mean ur head of black cartridge is damaged
after this process remove the black one cartridge and install the color one cartridge n check d blinking of lights on ur printer if it doesn't blinks it's mean ur color cartridge is OK but ur blinking of light on ur printer is same it's mean ur head of color cartridge is damaged
now take a dry cotton cloth n gently clean ur cartridges head install both cartridges on ur printer n check ur blinking light on ur printer that will work only if u r too lucky other wise u have to purchase a one cartridge.

Power Light Continues to blink.

if you are having issues after installing the new cartridges , then perform the following steps.

unplug the power adapter and remove both the cartridges and then power on the printer , look for the power light. if it does not blink then .
install the black cartridge first and then try to print , if it prints fine its ok. then remove the black cartridge and then put the color one in and then try printing or copying .

if it doesnot print with any either black/ color then you have to replace that particular caratridge..

lemme know once u r done....

It sounds like you don't have enough memory. You can assign hard drive space as virtual memory. (right click on "My computer" open properties, then advanced.)

as a last result, add more memory. Memory has gotten cheaper lately.

Can this machine COPY from the Black Cartridge only.

Click Start - All programs - HP - HP Director/Solution center.
In HP Director/Solution center. Click Settings - print settings - printer settings . Click on the Colors tab. Enable the option Print in grayscale and Black print cartridge only.

This is the only way to print with single black cartridge.

Thanks

Hp 1350 all-in-one

When power is applied to the all-in-one for the first time, the power light is solid and the check paper, check print cartridge, black copy, and color copy lights flash, the display will be blank, and the all-in-one will not respond. One or more of the following symptoms will also be observed: The all-in-one keeps turning off Cannot print, scan, or copy The print carriage will not move Windows plug and play (device detection) does not occur The all-in-one does not respond when buttons are pressed, including the power button. SOLUTION: This problem occurs for two reasons: the front panel cover was not installed or the ink cartridge access door was not closed before plugging in the all-in-one. The front panel overlay must be correctly installed before the power cord is plugged in. Follow the steps below to correct the problem: Disconnect the power cord. Lift the scanner lid and carefully line up and install the front panel overlay. Plug the power cord in. The print cartridge access door must be closed before the all-in-one is plugged in for the first time. The all-in-one cannot complete its first initialization until the door is closed. Follow the steps below to correct the problem: Disconnect the power cord. Locate and close the print cartridge access door. CAUSE: The all-in-one initializes when it is plugged in for the first time. While initializing, the all-in-one scans a bar code on the under side of the front panel cover requiring that the front panel cover be in place and that the scanner be operable. The scanner cannot operate when the cartridge access door is open On light (green) - On Check Paper light (amber) - Blink Simultaneously Check Print Cartridge light (amber) - Blink Simultaneously Black copy area backlight (green)- Blink Simultaneously Color copy area backlight (green) - Blink Simultaneously Issue Front panel overlay is not attached at all or not attached properly Solution Turn Off the all-in-one. Attach front panel overlay as instructed on Setup Poster. Turn On the all-in-one.
