Question about ViewSonic VA1912wb 19" LCD Monitor

I cannot access the menu to adjust my aspect ratio - greyed out

I don't know why it's greyed out, something to do with the display settings, maybe somehow, as I don't have the same problem when I'm watching tv. I do a lot of graphics work and this drives me crazy. View Sonic's customer service couldn't even help me. I've tried to reset the display settings and have ended up with worse problems that have kept my up trying to fix them for hours. Argh! Help, please?

Thanks for replying - No, I'm not referring to the PC menu; I'm referring to my remote for the ViewSonic. It will not allow me to adjust the aspect ratio when I go into menu and as a result everything I view is stretched disproportionately. Is there someway that I need to adjust my settings for display through my PC that will allow me to adjust the aspect ratio on my remote?

rtrahn, I appreciate the ideas, but this ViewSonic is a very different flatscreen/tv cross that doesn't have those options. Everything for this monitor/tv is run through the menus on the remote, and for whatever reason, the option to "zoom" or "aspect ratio" on the menu for display are grayed out. I'm trying to figure out what needs to be adjusted so that those options become viable.

I have received the following from ViewSonic on my LCD Monitor/TV and it worked!

"Please understand that the aspect ratio of the TV is no longer controlled by the TV menu when it is used as a monitor. Please use a wide screen screen resolution setting in your computer so you will not get a stretched display. Please use 1680X1050."

Hope this will work for you as well if you're having this problem!

First, let me confirm exactly what it is you're talking about. Right-click anywhere on emply space on Desktop. Then click properties, Then click settings. Are you talking about the sliding bar which you can adjust by moving it left or right for the screen resolution?

Normally there are some buttons on the monitor that allow you to center the window, make it wider, etc. Also, find the button that says Degrauss..this will demagnetize your monitor and sometime that will do it...

Aspect ratio problem -- will not display 4:3

You should have an option in your menu for "ratio lock"... many older screens have a ratio lock setting that you can enable or disable. Hope that works!

Hdmi problems

It seems that the width of the displayed picture is less than normal. Change the aspect ratio to 4:3, and check. Go to picture setting menu to adjust the aspect ratio. Check its user manual for more details.

I have a 50" Plasma

Hi, the aspect ratio is set incorrectly for the source material or the screen is simply set to 4:3 aspect (old TV size) manually. There will be a menu function or an aspect button on the remote for doing this. Set it to auto which is usually good enough for most viewing though the ratio may change during adverts and back again for the film on tv watching. This can be annoying so when on tv mode observe the ratio set when the film is on and manually set this ratio, usually 16:9. The display will normally tell you the ratio setting at the point of change so you can do this. I hope this helps.

Have bought a second hand philips 28pw6506, it has no remote control. Do you know how to change the aspect ratio or size of picture on screen? Have looked through the menus with the button on top of the...

To change its picture aspect ratio, you have to go to its menu. As you haven't its remote control there is an option for that, mentioned in its user manual. I hereby send it to you. Do the same and access the aspect ratio.

The television set has 4 keys which are located

on the front or the top of the set depending
on the model.

The VOLUME - + (- Vol +) keys are used to

adjust sound levels.The PROGRAM - + (- P +)

keys are used to select the required programmes.

To access the menus, simultaneously hold down

the VOL- and VOL+ keys.The PROGRAM - +

keys may then be used to select an adjustment

and the - VOL+ keys to make that adjustment.

To exit from the menus, hold down the 2 VOL-

and VOL+ keys.

Note: when the Child Lock function is activated,
these keys are unavailable

Edges of picture being cut off. Is there something we can do to adjust it?

Have you tried changing the aspect ratio? On your remote there should be a button labled aspect. Otherwise you'll need to access the service menu and change the vertical height and horizontal width.

Occasionaly a wide screen dvd plays only in full screen

The aspect ratio on your DVD player is not set correctly. Look for a SETUP button on the remote control, there should be something like "QUICK SETUP" or something similar on the setup menu, if not then go to the menu that has the aspect ratio settings listed. Change your aspect ratio to 16:9 WIDESCREEN, and this should solve your problem. Your aspect ratio is 4:3 which is for a regular TV, if the images (especially people) look real skinny and tall on your TV then your aspect ratio is not properly set. Good luck to you!

How to change display size without the remote

You really dont need the remote all changes are accessible from the controls on top of the machine.
If you select the menu button then picture you will notice that the 'Aspect Ratio' is greyed out. What you wiil need to to do to make this operable is to connect your video/dvd device.Once the projector is through searching and picture is set up you will find that you are able to make changes to the Aspect Ratio. ie highlight and then hit the select button to select native 16;9 or 4;3

Hope this is useful and not to late.
