Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

There's a barely visible green line running horizontal through the centre of the television. When light passes over it, it turns red.

I had a similar problem with a lg 47". Exactly like your problem but I had alot more lines. Turned out they said it had missing pixels. Which was a factory defect. Noticed 3 days after purchase, so I was refunded.

This isn't a new set, it's about a year old. As far as I'm aware the red line appeared after a blackout one night.

SOURCE: I have blueish green lines

like 3D? This is a convergence chip problem. You can try tuning it from the settings in memu But it will eventually show up again> sometimes after you turn it on the next day. The only true way to fix it is to have the chip replaced. It is not a DIY as these chips are soldered to the board.

SOURCE: television when turned on: light goes to green

If the Red Light Blinks twice and goes out, the TV is in Protection Mode. There are 6 voltage outputs to the lamps around the screen. If one of those outputs is missing the TV will sense that there's a problem and refuse to turn on. The predominant failure in this model are the output transformers on the Inverter board. A properly trained technician can measure the windings on each transformer and look for an open circuit, if one is found, replace that Transformer. i was given one of these sets from a friend and I replaced an output transformer ($11 w/shipping) and I now have a fully functional TV/DVD Combo. Also verify that all of the connecting cables internally are properly seated, there have been reports or the ribbon cables from the Power supply board to the main board above it not being fully inserted and it also prevented the TV from turning on. A word of caution. There are VERY High Voltages on the inverter circuit board, only persons with proper training and knowledge should attempt this repair.

SOURCE: Samsung HPR4252 with red horizontal lines accross the screen

I just had my HP-R4252 repaired on 12.05.09 with a similar problem. The picture is covered in horizonal, broken lines and the color is predominately red. They lines are grouped together in large bands across the screen.

The tech replaced the Y-Buffer boards (Up) and (Low) in about 20 minutes.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. How to set convergence on Projection TV ' s

I have given an general explanation on most projection TV ' s

  1. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  2. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  3. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  4. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  5. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  6. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  7. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  8. Repeat these steps for all colors.

Why are green horizontal lines are appearing, too much yellow colour and green light blinking red?

These horizontal lines are vertical flyback lines and would indicate
one or more of the tubes cathode drive circuits are defective.
As the picture is predominantly yellow this would indicate excessive drive to red and green guns. Check the red and green video output stages especialy any clamping diodes.regards from Vintie
