Batteries need changing about every 2-3 weeks !!

We put in the copper top batteries 4 AAA. The expiry date for the batteries in 2015. This happens far to frequently. Just tonight my wife went to turn on the tv and the remote was making a squealing sound and then it said batteries low change. We just changed them not even two(2) weeks ago. So what gives ? Is this remote a lemmon and should I take it back for a replacement. We've owned it for about 3-4 months.

The first solution I would never have thought about but the other two are the most logical.

Thanks for your time and quick response it is appreciated !

I have the same remote.  My solution to the problem (other than returning it to the store) is rechargeable batteries.  This has worked well for us.  Unfortunately, the remote recently hit the floor one time too many, dislodging the USB connector on the front and shorting out the unit.  So, I no longer own that remote.  But while I did, the rechargeables did the trick.  Still change them out frequently, but not wasting money or polluting as much.

You should have two types of batteries.
2 CR123A batteries: (lithium)
4 AA batteries (alkaline or nickel-metal hydride)
Never use Nicad batteries. Never use different batteries together. that is for the four AA batteries. They should be the same brand and the same capacity.
The lithium batteries should be the same brand and same date.
Before changing batteries, always switch off the camera.

When you use rechargeable batteries, be sure you did charge them fully, before putting them in the camera.

TI 82 Does it need the disk battery and 4 AAA batteries to work?

No. The calculator runs on the four AAA batteries. The lithium battery is solely to retain the contents of the memory while you change the AAA batteries. If you don't care about retaining the memory, you don't need the lithium battery. You do, however, need the AAA batteries to use the calculator.

The picture looks very much like the Walgreens brand, which is manufactured by HoMedics. If that is the case, you can access the batteries as follows:

1. The battery cover is located along the bottom side of the monitor. Remove the battery cover by pressing down and pulling away from the monitor.

2. Remove the old batteries and take note of whether they are corroded or not. Install the new batteries according to the polarity indications inside the battery compartment. It will require 2 - AAA Alkaline Batteries..

3. Replace the cover by inserting it back into place.

I have a TI-83 graphing calculator and it keeps reporting 'Low Battery'. We replaced the 4 AAA batteries with a fresh set and got the same message. The calculator is less than 2 yrs old. Do I need to...

There can be two causes to this problem. One, the batteries that you put in may be expired. Some batteries have expiration dates on them (i.e. Duracell). If the year on it has expired or is coming near to expiring, you may have to put newer batteries in there that are longer lasting in years. Even if the expiration year is far-off, you still may need to put newer batteries in the bay. Two, your hypothesis of changing the lithium battery are correct. I read in the manual that you should change it every 3 or 4 years. The lithium battery is the back-up battery and it is like a memory card for you calculator. Whenever you put a new fresh set of batteries in the bay, the lithium battery saves your information while you are inserting the batteries in the bay. When you turn on the calculator again, it saves your functions that you've had in there. Hope this clears up your confusion! Reply back if you are still seeing the message.

My ti 83 will turn on when i press the clear thing but when i try to put something in nothing happens

Hi imagenius1,

You need to free up some memory. Try clearing your RAM memory. Your calculator should operate properly afterward.

Press [2nd] [MEM] [7] [1] [2]

If the steps above did not reset the memory to your Ti 83 family calculator try the procedures below.

Please be prepared to re-install the calculator's OS if you run through this process.

If you have a straight Ti 83 without the Plus or, Silver Edition label goto (Procedure 2) below. If your Ti calculator is a Ti 83 Plus or better goto (Procedure 1).

(Procedure 1).

  1. Try a new set of AAA batteries.

  2. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [CLEAR] key. While holding [CLEAR], reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared". Release the [CLEAR] key and, then press [CLEAR] one more time to remove the message.

  1. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [DEL] key. While holding [DEL], reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now". Follow the instructions for the TI-83 family or TI-84 Plus family to reinstall the calculator operating system.

  2. Steps to re-installing the operating system:
~Connect the TI Connectivity cable between the PC and the calculator.
~Click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OSDownloader
~Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall the calculator's OS. If you could not install the new OS on your calculator goto step 4.

  3. Remove all of the batteries including the round lithium battery for 5 minutes. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and turn the calculator on. Adjust the contrast if necessary.

  4. If the above process did not reset your calculator. Try re-doing (Procedure 1) and, extend the time in step 4, by 5 minutes to 10 minutes before you put all the batteries back in the calculator.

(Procedure 2).

For a straight Ti 83 without the Plus or, Silver Edition label try the procedure below.

  1. Try a new set of AAA batteries.

  2. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the [ON] key for 20 seconds. Reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on.

I put new lithium triple aaa batteries in my TI-83. Nothing happened . days later it turned on worked for a little while then stopped. would it help to change the round lithium battery? Do you know what...

The button cell backup battery keeps the memory electrically refreshed when the calculator is turned OFF. The necessary power for regular use is supplied by the 4 AAA batteries (main power). That nothing happened when you put in a fresh set of (expensive) lithium batteries may be due to the screen being too dim to see anything.

If the calculator displays RAM CLEARED each time it is turned on, it may be due to a depleted backup battery. The battery model number is CR1616 or CR1620. On my TI84PLUS the backup battery is of type 303 (Sony) or SR44SW (Maxell).

How do I place 2 batteries in charger instead 0f 4?

Hello. Just place the two batteries together at the far left, or at the far right to charge them.. Just do not place them in the middle, or with an empty space between them. here is a link to the instruction sheet for your future reference http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/chdc_instructions_english.pdf

Frozen screen ti-84+

i tried furiously blowing in to the back of mine with all 4 AAA batteries and the back up battery removed
then i left the batteries out for 2 days
it works again with really minimum use... you have to repeat the blowing and leaving out nonsense every week
sometimes you regain use by rubbing the AAA batteries back and forth while they're in place

better get a new one if you can afford it

I had the same problem. I changed the batteries and it didn't work. I took out the batteries for about 30 minutes, and then put them back in, and it turned on.
