If the picture is oK and no sound. The first possible problem or trouble is the speaker. It may be broken, open, otherwise defective. Second is the phone jack on your TV set. Third is the amplifier. Just check all this mentioned parts.

Audio isn't working

ya know I hate to say it but I've done this before. check the mute button on your remote. I've accidently hit mine before and it took me several days to realize it. lol. if it's not that. check the volume of the set itself, then check the volume with the remote....I know these are weird things to check, but they do & have happened, to me. lol. good luck & God bless.

I have to turn the avr 7200 way up to get somewhats of a loud responce, but when there is no music, i hear a hsising noise. I never used this reciever in 10 years. what could it be?

Unless permanent hearing damage and the destruction of your equipment is a goal, NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR TROUBLESHOOTING or any purpose.

Turn the volume control to something medium.

The errant switch, control or condition may change and you will suddenly release the amp's full power and possibly destroying your speakers. If a signal isn't audible at 1/2 volume it's probably not there.

Carefully examine the front panel for clues like a misplaced Source Selection, Mute, Tape Monitor control or Multichannel Analog Input selected.

There is a good chance that a common control may have developed a high-resistance or 'dead' spot through defect or idleness and is causing your symptom. Turn the POWER OFF and operate every control throughout its range a number of times, especially rarely-used ones like Tape Monitors and the Mute control.

Turn the volume to something reasonable and see if that helped.

The volume is not working on our Samsung HPT4254 Plasma. We have a RCA surround sound connected to it as well as our cable box.

First check to make sure that the audio isn't "Muted". Second, Go into the user menu and check to make sure that the "Melody or Chime " is turned "on". Third, Turn the volume up half way.Fourth, Turn "off" the set. You should hear a "Down" Melody or chime. Next turn "on" the set. If you did hear the Melody when you turn the set "on" or "off" then the audio system in the set is ok. If you did not hear the Melody then the Main bd needs to be replaced. Have a trained Samsung tech repair your set.
