On a 12C Platinum, press f [ALG]
On a non-Platinum you're stuck. It has only the RPN mode.

I checked the manual, the image of the face of the calculator and there is no way to change the entry mode from RPN to Algebraic. Your calculator is still in RPN, it is the only mode it has. Reset it.

Press SHIFT [MODE] then down-arrow until you get to "Algebraic" or "Chain" depending on the current mode then INPUT until you get to "RPN." Press ON when done.
