Motherboard goes for 3 seconds then shots itself

hi i like to help. first off, put back the old processor and reset the motherboard. you''ll find the jumper caps near the battery or you can read the label on the board something like jbat1. put the jumper cap on pins 2 and 3. wait 10 secs to reset the board then put it back to pins 1 and 2. The board should work now. to upgrade your processor i think you have to upgrade the bios first. download it from the manufacturers website. after bios update, replace the procesoor and it should work again.

At startup I get 6 beeps. No video. hard drive had a virus on it. was working just find before the virus. ( clean the virus off). was also getting message " hit atny key to wake from sleep mode." not...

Do the beeps have a sequence? like 2 long, 2 short, 2 long. It is very helpful to know the beep code. Remove your video board ( if you have one ) and see if the same beeps occur. If not, put video back in very firmly and remove all memory chips. Same beep code? Put in one memory chip in the slot A1 conn.
Does this help you? If there is no change, jumper your rtc to wipe out battery. wait 30 sec. then put jumper bck to normal position. If you can, removing the nickel Battery would be a good idea for 30 sec. Make sure to put it back in. If you're still getting the same beep code, or if it has changed to a new tempo, we are on the right track and you will be able to fix it.

Remove your battery from the motherboard for 30 sec. Jumper rtc jumper to short. Replace battery after 30 sec. then put RTC jumper back in correct location ( 1-2 or 2-3 ). leave like this another 10 sec then boot again with both Ram sticks. Make sure they are identical.

Son got into my bios and changed video setting from auto to int. Now I get a black screen, computer beeps like it's booting, I just cant see anything. Any ideas?

You need to reset your BIOS. To do this, you will need to open the side of your computer. Somewhere on the motherboard will be a jumper, possibly labeled clear cmos. There are three pins, usually with a cap on the first two. Remove the cap from 1-2 and put it on 2-3. Then, put it back again.

If you cannot find the jumper, then you can always remove the battery for a couple of hours. Put it back in again and your defaults will be loaded. You'll have to go in and set the time and stuff either way.

Yes you can reset it, just make sure you unplug the computer before doing it...
Open the left sidepanel and either look for the clear cmos jumper and switch it to the other pin for 10 secs, or you can remove the cmos battery for 10 secs
