Fix door switch

Hi, what you can do is get a small paint brush and dip it into some methylated spirits and try to dab it well into the switch and immediately push in the contact point a couple of times or open the door a few times hoping that the meths will eventually penetrate deep into the switch cleaning out the gunge or corrosion that is causing it to stick.
There are a number of lubricating releasing agents in a can that you can get at your local hardware to spray into the switch which will have the same effect as the Meths. and will actually be a better proposition as the cans have a long thin nozzle spray attachment which will give a better access into the switch. After dabbing the meths you can try blowing it deeper into the switch with your breath or even using some kind of air pressure like a miniature compressor, or, (this one is funny but works) blow up a balloon and release the air squeezing the neck closed just enough to let the air escape with a force(I"m having a good laugh here) A bit of humour is good now and then. That's it!
Have a funny day
Good luck.

Inside light went out...replacing bulb did not work, any help or advise? thanks! Mike

Many times when the inside light fails to operate...it could be:

(1) A bad bulb ...replace with a known good one.
(2) Bad connection of the light bulb in its socket.
(Remove the bulb and spray the socket with WD-40 Spray Lubricant) then...
(3) Replace the bulb with a known good bulb..use a dry rag to securely tighten the bulb in its socket.
(4) The "Door Switch" could be bad. Replace bad "Door Switch" with new one.

Hopes this helps....Good Luck! ...... HandyHenry

I have a LRFC22750TT model Lg Refrigerator. When the doors are closed the lights inside stay on. VERY HOT! Dangerous! Any advice?

Hi!!
Check on the cabinet door frame for the light switch. Press it all the way inn and the light should go off. If this happens, the door is not pressing far enough to turn the light off. To fix this, place a self sticking plastic pad, like the ones you use on glass tables, where you set the glass, on the spot where the switch makes contact with the door to give it a little more reach. If the light do not turn off when the switch is pressed, the switch is defective. You can get a replacement at any Appliance Parts store for about $5.
You'll need the Make, Model and probably the Serial No. of your unit.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

LIGHT DOES NOT WORK REPLACED BULB STILL DONT WORK

Usually the switch is sticking when that happens. Look for a button or lever on the door frame where the door makes contact and push it in two or three times until the light comes ON.

Lights will not go out when I close Kenmore elite refrigerator

Hello John, the door switch is stuck in the on position. It may be possible to lubricate it with a squirt of PAM cooking spray, or it may have to be replaced.

The lights do not turn on when opening the doors despite changing the bulbs.

It sounds like the door switch. Check to see if it is sticking -- it should come out when the door is open. If it's not sticking, the switch probably needs replacing.

No power to refrigerator lighting

I would start with the light sweitch. As far as I know there is no fuse for the light. But the switch may be stuck. Sticky stuff from spills are a common problem causing the door switch to stick and make it hold in just like when the door is closed.Look around the frame for a button and try pulling the button out (I know you have changed the bulb, right?).

If its pulling in and out at the plunger remove power and then the panel or piece of plastic holding the switch jump both sides of the switch together and see if the light works then if so you need a new switch. Oh some switches may also have another set of contacts that shut off the inside fan motor when the door opens if so it will have 3 or 4 wires not just 2. and you will have to try (if you don't have a diagram showing colors or terminals) jumping separately. FYI the light is always on terminals marked C and NC, the inside fan is always on C and NO. These designation C NO NC are usually always on the switch body.

If this helps you please give me as high a rating as you can. If it did not help you please restate your problem so I can respond in another way with better communication. Thnak you and good luck.
