Inside car lights won't shut off after opening car door

There are two possibilities. You have a timer under the dash that with age will give you this problem. I would also check the door latches, you may have a sticking door switch that is telling the module (timer) that a door is still open. Try this, sometimes it works. Get a spray can of lubricant and spray it inside the door latch mechanism, this will release the switch if is stuck. Do this to all the doors including the hatch. Open and close them a few times and see if the lights turn of. There is a delay in turning them of. This is normal

I have the same problem on a 1999 Lincoln Continental door ajar light is on and the interior light is on but doors are close where is the switch at ? if inside the door how do I take the panel off.

The door switches are usually on the inside of the door jam on the lower corner opposite the hinge. They are covered in rubber and have a tendency to stick. Sometimes spraying them liberally with a spray lubricant such as WD 40 and manually working the switch 10-20x will get a stuck switch to function again.

Inside light went out...replacing bulb did not work, any help or advise? thanks! Mike

Many times when the inside light fails to could be:

(1) A bad bulb ...replace with a known good one.
(2) Bad connection of the light bulb in its socket.
(Remove the bulb and spray the socket with WD-40 Spray Lubricant) then...
(3) Replace the bulb with a known good bulb..use a dry rag to securely tighten the bulb in its socket.
(4) The "Door Switch" could be bad. Replace bad "Door Switch" with new one.

Hopes this helps....Good Luck! ...... HandyHenry

Recently, the inside light on my 2003 Chevy cavalier began fading on while I'm driving or when I stop at a light. Sometimes it fades off when I start moving again built it also stays on after I park, shut...

Sounds like your light switch is sticking ,you'll have to find it and lubricate it with penetrating lube. The switch may be a plunger switch that moves when the door is closed ,but I think it's part of the latch.Spray the switch and open and close the door to work in the lube.

How to get to stop light in back window of 95 lincoln cont. Bulb is burnt out. do we change from trunk side or inside of car? also have a problem with interior lights staying on for a long time after car...

First, the stop light bulb is accessible from inside the car. The cover can be removed by pressing down on the center of the unit and pull back toward the front of the car. Once off, you will have access to the bulb itself

You have a sticky door switch. Apart from replacement, best course of action is to spray the switch (all throughout the inside of the door/lock) with WD-40. Since you're unsure which switch is sticking, repeat this procedure on all doors. Once thoroughly lubricated, open and close the doors several times. This should fix your sticky switch problem.. Best of luck.

Your switch is sticking. Get a can of lubricant (WD-40 or the like) and thorougly spray the switches as well as inside the doors including lock mechanisms. You may have to open and close the doors several times to get the light to go out. Best of luck.

When doors are open dome light does not turn on

There are levers or switches inside the door jambs which are more than likely sticking.........try moving the levers and if this works shoot some lubrication on them and move them around a bit.
