Its not an answer here but i know Yahoo messenger just put a stop to software which could do that recently, its getting to be a privacy law and not a lot you can do about it. Suppose we are all a bit curious sometimes whos online. Just message them to death maybe...haha
The only method I am aware of is to ask that person if they are online or not. MSN allows users to select privacy options such as "appear offline" to give it's users privacy when they do not wish to be disturbed.
Download Msn Messenger or Windows messenger, once you have done that and entered your email and password.. The people online appear in green and the people who are offline appear in grey. Its very simple. If this is helpful please vote for me.
Dear Friend, First of all, always check the status of your web browser before signing in to windows hotmail messenger. That means that if you try to sing in, be sure that work offline mode in your browser is not checked.Secondly, have you run the MSN MESSENGER port configuration?Third and most important, have you opened the ports in your firewall? Here is the list of thee ports that MSN Messenger uses: 1366 MSN Messenger
1367 MSN Messenger
1838 : TCP MSN Messenger (Gamevoice)
1863 : TCP/UDP MSN Messenger primary (incoming)
5190 : UDP MSN Messenger (incoming)
6891 : TCP MSN Messenger Filetransfer (incoming) - ports 6891 - 6900, one port per file transfer
6901 : TCP/UDP MSN Messenger Voice Telephony (incoming)
5004 : UDP MSN Messenger, ports 5004-65535. Used for AUDIO and VIDEO. Caution: securty risc! Do not open ALL these ports!
5004 : UDP MSN messenger (dynamically uses a port in this range 5004 –
65535 - requires uPNP in your NAT router and/or firewall). Used for
AUDIO and VIDEO. See Microsoft website for details....
This is sometimes caused by the cache left on Internet Explorer. If your internet's working fine, then follow these steps. Close MSN Messenger Open Internet Explorer. Set it to work offline (File > Work Offline) Close Internet Explorer and reopen it. Now set it to work online (File > Work Offline). Open Command Prompt (Start > Run > type "cmd" and hit enter) Type "ipconfig /flushdns". You should recieve a message that your DNS has been successfully flushed. You should now be able to connect to MSN Messenger. Open MSN and see if the problem is fixed.
