Hs56c edge trimmer wont start have fire to plug and fuel could my kill switch be bad causing it not to start

If you have fire to the plug and the plugs gets wet with gas when you are trying to start it,, well ..if this is true, you have a compression problem.
The 3 things a internal combustion engine needs to run are.
1. Timed Spark
2. Correct fuel/air ratio
3. Good compression

If the kill switch was bad, you would not be getting fire.

THE ENGINE WAS OVERHAUL AFTER THAT IT FAILING TO START JUST CRANKING BUT PROMISING ,THE SPARK IS THERE WHY PUTTING MORE FUEL ON THE PLUGS

Did you check for spark at more than one or two spark plugs? The spark is there, and the spark plugs are wet with gas? Is it flooded? Or is it getting too much gas? For a flooded engine, you know to open the intake valve wide open by holding the gas pedal to the floor, and cranking for up to 15 seconds? This will let a lot of air in and clear out most of the excess gas. Or have you tried this already?
Spark, gas, and compression: that is all that the cylinders need to run. In a well-timed engine, that is. A little gas/air mixture, then compression, then a spark is delivered and it runs. One of those three things is not right or missing for your engine not to start. Or you will have to recheck timing.

Getting spark and gas but won't start,it will fire once and a while and pop but that it,help

Check compression, vacuum and pressure check, ring seized to the piston. Also if you haven't replaced the spark plug, do it. Sometimes it's the most simple things that stump us. Sometimes a spark plug won't fire under load.

One cylinder not firing on generator

If you have spark and compression and it not firing then you must not have fuel. the fuel is fed from the demand regulator thru the intake independent for each cylinder. Check the intake and make sure that the NG/LP pin is all the way to the NG side.

My 1996 road king will crank but not fire at times. getting gas and spark.

A spark plug may fire when out of the cylinder, but not fire properly when under compression. Replace the plugs and get your coils checked out for correct resistance and operation. You will find the correct readings in your manual.

20 hp runs but is poping and running poorly one plug gets fouled other is ok could this be carb related? i have spark on both plugs

Not likely carb because both cylinders would act the same; not likely coil because both cylinders fire together, however could be wire/boot from coil, plug or low compression/valve adjustment. Premium fuel works miracles on small engines; try a couple of gallons, it will increase horsepower. Check compression and compare to good cylinder, if close, suspect plug or boot. If compression low, hope that valve adjustment will normalize. Good Luck

Can't start brisggs & Stratton 21in mower. I

Get some GUMOUT carburator cleaner GAS ADDITIVE. Put about 1/2 TEASPOON in the gas tank and about 1 tablespoon per gallon into your spare gas. The float pin is probably sticking from winter non-use. This will free it ip.

You can also remove the bowl from the carburator and spray everything to immediately dissolve the varnish. Be careful not to lose the pin spring.

Added new spark plug, fuel line is clear, start cable moves, new oil

Hello:

>>Here is a Basic Instruction File I am in the Process of Making. It will Might Say Mower, but a Snow Thrower/Blower is Powered by the Same Type of Engine, so the Diagnostics are Basically the Same. >>***Here are some Diagnostic Instructions to Do on the Engine to Locate the Cause/Cure for a Hard/Not Starting Engine. This Does Not Include a Problem with the Valves. If I Suspected the Valves are Involved, then a Separate File for the Valves will be in this E-mail. This is a File in the Making, so Any Input is Appreciated.
>>1- Check the Spark. If Not Firing, then Replace the Plug.
>>2- If the Plug is Firing, then First, Pour a Small Amount of Gas (1oz) Into the Carburetor Throat with the Throttle at Full. With the Throttle Still at Full, Try to Start the Engine. If the Engine Starts and Quits, then Make Sure the Gas is Free Flowing to the Carburetor. If the Gas is Free Flowing, then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I Use Gunk). I have Found that Most People can Use a Breakdown/IPL and Disassemble the Carburetor Enough for Proper Cleaning. You Only have to Remove the Bowl, Float Pin, Float and Needle Valve and Any Adjustment Screws that Go Into the Carburetor Body. The Welch Plugs Do Not have to be Removed. Then Soak the Carburetor Body and Parts in a 1 Gallon Can of Gunk Carburetor Cleaner Overnight. The Can has a Parts Tray Inside it for the Small Parts. Once the Carburetor and Parts are in the Cleaner, you can Replace the Lid for Safety and to Prevent Accidental Spillage. Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install New Parts if Required.
>>3- If No Fire at the Plug, then Remove the Coil Shut Off Wire from the Kill Switch at the Engine Stop/Brake Bracket (where the End of the Stop/Brake Cable Attaches at the Engine). Check for Fire. If No Fire, then Remove the Blower Housing and Remove the Ground Wire from the Coil. Check for Fire. If Still No Fire, then the Coil is Bad. *On Some JD Model Mower the Engines Use an Igniter. Remove the Igniter and Coil and have your Local JD Dealer Test them for you.
>>* **On Models with Point Set, the Condenser is Bad and the Point Set and Condenser should be Replaced as a Unit. Make Sure the Point Set Plunger is Fully Extended when Setting the Point Set Gap to .020in.
>>** If there was No Response from the Engine When the Gas was Poured Into the Carburetor Throat and the Plug was Firing, then Check the Compression. If the Compression is Good, the Carburetor has Been Soaked and Cleaned and the Plug is Firing, then Check the Flywheel Key. If the Key is Damaged, then the Plug Firing is Incorrect to the Position of the Piston During the Compression (Power Stroke).
>>*** On the OHV and Some L-Head (Flat Head) Engines there is a Compression Release. The Exhaust Valve Clearance has to be Opened to .020in for the Compression Release Not to Operate; in Order to get a Correct Compression Reading.***
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

John
