I've spilt coffee on my laptop and would like to ask if there's any way of getting it out other than taking it to the work shop?

You can try and clean it yourself
eventually your going to get corrosion in the laptop from the liquid.
#1 RULE NEVER EAT OR DRINK AROUND YOUR LAPTOP
I would take it to a repair shop so it can get a proper cleaning and maybe prevent corrossion

Spilt coffee down car air vent

Short of complete disassembly of the dash, I'm not sure you can. Unless the coffee gets into something electrical or on an actuator, not much harm will be done. Do all of the HVAC control functions still work?

How do i get a recovery disk for RV510

hi Jackn.
thats not good, was your laptop on at the time?
if it was you might have damaged something on the mother board.
lets hop you have not.
you can try the recovery disc but it should ask you if you want to wipe it clean.
you ask in your question, how do i get a recovery disk, then you go on to say you have one?
depending on how much you spilt and how quick you go to it,you might have to have it opened up to make sure it has dried out.
i think trying to do a recovery before you check its all dry in there is not worth the risk.
if you do open it up your self, get a hair dryer and try and dry it that way,
coffee is one of the worst things you could spill on a laptop.

So i spilt coffee on my laptop about a week ago and it starts to turn on and then wont I asked the geek squad guys they told me to leave it in the garage for a week and then try working with it and it...

Your laptop has suffered from the dreaded coffee spill !

If you have already allowed the laptop 1 week to "DRY OUT" and it still doesn't work then you have a serious problem.

Check the battery to make sure there is sufficient power supply to the laptop and it may be helpful to take the battery out of the laptop and check it for wetness.

If this proves ok then you need to look further

It means that the coffee has entered deep into the electronics and possibly caused a short circuit!

Don't throw the laptop away just yet. You will need to take the laptop to someone skilled who can run a test on your laptop in order to make a diagnosis. This may also mean stripping the laptop out of it's case to check/test hardware etc.

Ring around and get the lowest price you can and try to tell them everything you know about the laptop as this may save you money.

Unless you personally have the skills to pull apart your laptop then sadly it is going to cost you some money.

ps. if your laptop is several years old then it may not be worth spending the money on it.
However if it is reasonably new then spending maybe $50-$100 could be money well spent.

Spilt coffee over my laptop

Well I hate to say it but coffee ruins laptops. The acid in the coffee melts the solder contacts on the motherboard, killing it.

Glass water was spilt on it, emerceny download

Listen you must take it immediately to the shop to get it repaired. This says LG if i'm not mistaken so take it to the LG service centre or any good shop because only someone really good can now save your phone. It takes about a week or two for the clogged water to start rusting the components. It's going to happen for sure as the water will not evaporate. The worst thing is your phone will look like it's working fine for a while and a few minor gliches here and there and just when you feel your phone has salvaged the day something will happen. It happened to my moto rokr e8. I dropped coffee on it and after 10 days the screen just went blank. So go to a service centre and say liquid/water damage and see if it can be repaired before it's too late.

If you can put up with the sticky keys and they still work then it is OK.
Otherwise you need to replace the keyboard.

Motherboard

I see many cases of spilt coffee/pop/beer/liquid of some sort spilt on laptops at work, and it is rare that good news accompanies it. It is rather impossible to clean out a laptop entirely. Your best bet is to get your data off the hard drive, buy a new laptop, and transfer it over. This may seem harsh, but it really is your best option if you do not wish to lose data.
