Question about Whirlpool LEW0050P Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Need to replace dryer belt.

My daughter put a heavy rug in her small stackable dryer, and snapped the belt. I have purchased a new belt, but cannot figure out how to route the belt on this unit. The parts diagram shows the belt around the drum and the drive motor shaft, but the new belt will not come close to reaching over the motor shaft. Any help will be appreciated!!!

My belt is not broken but must have slipped off motor. Taking this dryer apart to put belt back on motor is much more difficult than larger models I owned.

Belt replacement on Kenmore Dryer.

The first thing I do is remove the top. Then I drop the splashplate and remove the controls. If this is the first time you have messed with it their are some zipties that need to be removed. then the controls unplug and the control panel is set aside. The drum is real heavy. If you are 10 feet tall Tarzan you might can get it out by using the belt to assist you after you have removed the idler. A trick is just remove the 3 screws to the rear drum bearing and get the drum out. Then re-attach it to the drum before you install the drum back in the dryer.

I have a stackable kenmore washer dryer heavy duty extra large capacity 2 speed motor. The dryer has been making squeeling noise and has stopped toumbling around what can the problem be.

Could be the belt which connects motor and dryer drum. Could be the drum support rollers. Replace both either way -- common problem.
