How to adjust water float on toilet

If it is an old-fashioned ball float, bend the rod. Check the ball float to be sure it is not waterlogged.
The newer fill valves such as Fluidmaster adjust by sliding the clip up or down the rod.

300. Why does it occasionally get stuck in the up position or fails to refill tank completely?

It has been my experience that they are reliable. Fluidmaster instructions say to flush the valve (not the toilet) after installation to purge debris. It may be necessary to do this again. Also check for interference with the refill tubing. The float and linkage should be able to move freely.

When flush my toilet, water keep running until i put my hand inside the middle and pull the float , then stop. toilet make is rapid sl

the ball **** fill valve is a poorly designed valve. replace it with a fluidmaster fill valve and a fluidmaster flapper. flappers do go bad after a year or ten depending on your water quality and choice of flapper but the fluidmaster fill valve will last a long time also. you can also get the water saver fill valve by fluidmaster and there is also a conversion set to change your toilet to a dual flush. all this is at lowes and there is a plumbing pro there to explain further. feel free to give me a positive rating. thanks!

I've just installed a Fluidmaster 400 Series. When I flush the toilet, it doesn't refill the tank unless I tap the Float.

The first thing I would check is to make sure that the body of the float or the linkage that connects the float to the top of valve are not rubbing on inside of the tank and stopping it from moving freely.
Also when tank is full hold float down so that all air that is inside the top of the float is let out. I hope this hepls you. Thanks.

I replaced my fluid master and now it will not stop filling in the tank.

Try lifting the float part of the valve. If the water stops filling, reset the float level lower.
If water does not stop when lifting the float, flush out the valve according to the instructions - steps 12 - 15.

12. IMPORTANT: Always clear sand and rust from system. Make sure

water supply is shut off. Remove valve TOP by lifting arm and rotating

top and arm 1/8 turn counterclockwise, pressing down slightly on cap.

13. While holding a container over the uncapped VALVE to prevent

splashing, turn water supply on and off a few times. Leave water

supply off.

14. Replace TOP by engaging lugs and rotating 1/8 turn clockwise. MAKE

15. Turn on water supply. Adjust water to desired level by squeezing water

level adjustment clip and moving FLOAT CUP up or down along stainless
steel link. Check for leaks, then check for proper flush.

If valve continues to run:

• There may be debris at seal - repeat Steps 12-15.

• The seal inside the valve top may be damaged -replace with genuine
Fluidmaster 242 seal.

The buoy or float cup as it is known by may not be the problem. Try removing the fluidmaster top cap assembly and flush our the valve for debris. If the valve is several years old you may want to replace the top cap seal with model 242.

How can I adjust the water level in the tank?

With a standard Fluidmaster fill valve, on the side of the float there is a rod that controls the depth of the float. On top of that rod is what looks like a phillips head on a screw. You can use your fingers usually, but if you would like you can use a screwdriver, simply move the float level up and down by screwing either clockwise or counter clockwise to change the level in the tank. Flush a little water after making the adjustments to guage the water level when the fill valve shuts off. Good luck

I installed a new fill valve, when it starts to fill it stops. I changed it twice and the supply line is clear.

are you talking toilet float, if so. try and set float to desired level in tank. then when it gets to that level, it will shut off.
