You have lost your stuff more than likely. You can try to use ScanDisc in applications to fix it, but possibly dead. You will need to reformat.

Formatt win7 to install winxp

when you boot from xp installation cd it should start but if as you say nothing is happening there may be a problem with the cd or the drive. If you're sure it works properly you can always install your existing hard drive (the one with win 7) in another computer and format it then replace it and try again. When you format it you will wipe everything and it will be blank.

Tip

How to format Hard drive/flash drive

This is a tip explaining step by step how to format your Hard drive. This is as easy as 1 - 2 -3, so lets get the ball rolling.

Firstly, you need to know that this method can also be used with Flash drives, MP3 players, basically any removable drive.

If the drive you would like to follow is a internal Hard drive, and you would like to format it to NTFS format, here is how we do it. Remember, that you will not be able to format your C(System) drive, because, then you will delete your operating system, hence, all other drives can be formatted.

Open "My Computer" and follow these steps:

The drive shown above is your C(System) drive, If you want to format this drive, you will need to do this when you attempt a clean install of windows.

Say you want to format your flash drive, insert the flash drive into your USB port, and open "My Computer". My flashdrive is Labeled Lexar(H)

Now just follow these steps.

Now you are done, the drive has been formatted. Remember, this also works on internal Hard drives, but not your system drive.

Hope you can find this helpful.

Please rate accordingly.

Kind regards

I have an iomega 500gb desktop hard drive and i can't see in in my compter.

With Large hard drives and I take it it is new you need service pack 2 for XP and Service pack 3 for Windows 2000 They also need to be Partitioned they can can be partition as one drive and this needs to happen under Administrative Tools then Computer Management Once this has happen they can be formatted This needs to happen for both IDE and SATA

Sandisk 16 GB USB Drive wont accept large files says disk is full

What is the USB drive formatted as? Look in My Computer then right click the USB drive, select Properties. See what it says under "File System". My guess is the drive is formatted as FAT32. Now FAT32 has a size limitation of 4GB for a single file, which would explain the error. To get over this you need to reformat the USB drive as NTFS. Then it will accept the 6.95GB file. You can format the drive by right clicking it again and selecting "Format" ... choose NTFS from the drop down menu. Be aware that any data already on the drive will be wiped by the format so be sure to back it up before formatting.

Windows asking me to format my flash drive

Just format your flash drive! Before you start formatting your flash drive, transfer all data from your flash drive 'cause when you format your flash drive, it will erase all the data. After you have formatted the flash drive, then you can transfer back the data to your flash drive.

I have new SanDIsk 2GB that I want to use but it says I need to format it ...when I try to do this I get an error stating that windows could not complete the operation.

It happened to my thumb drive as well. What I did is to run an antivirus software first. Then connected it to a different usb port in my computer and did a format. You may also try connecting it to another computer.

Hope this helps!

Flash drive storage

Re-format it from Windows.
Go to my computer.
You will see all disks including removable flash drive.
Click right button on flash drive icon.
A menu will drop down chose format option.
Do not do fast format , chose a complete format.
If you cannot solve the problem in this way then the flash drive is either .
Some Chinese export companies are selling corrupt or counterfeit flash drives of 4, and 8 Gigs, they lose FAT integrity after a while, and when re-formated won't work properly or will work only for a while.
In this case return item to retailer.
