Palmcorder Vidoe Transfer Issues

Could someone please provide me with an easy to follow step by step solution for transferring my video, from a Panasonic PVGS70D onto my laptop. The instruction is not detailed enough for this novus.

I have tried the USB cable,, doesn't work ,,,even bought one of those Pinnacle transfer machines,, but terrible MPEG-4 quality pictures. There must be a reasonable solution for this,, that I am just not getting as yet???

Which cables and which software do I need to achieve a supposedly simple transfer???

Many thanks

Usb will ONLY work for tranfering "pikts" you "must"use a firewire cable, port, and software(sony vegas, pinnacle, ect')to"capture"or "save"the video to your laptop.(being you have a mini-dv tape cam)
heres the low-down, unless your laptop has at least 1-gig ram,160+gig hard drive, firewire port, dvd burner,2.5ghz processor,,,it's goin to be a struggle.
capturing a good quality video to your comp hogs a LOT of space(25-35 gigs per hour of footage!),dvd creation (authoring)is another world!.
if you simply want to put somthing on the web,buy a nice photo camera with video recording,or a mini DVD disk camcorder,OR-a HDD(hard drive)camcorder,,,ALL the priors dont requier anything "special"to get it on to your laptop, and can be edited for posting by simple progs like "movie maker(xp,vist)or i movie(mac),but if you want a dvd of your final product, you MUST have a "authoring"prog like sony vegas or pinnacle.
--from my experience for tape camcorders, firewire is the only and best way to get it to your harddrive(set  capture settings to "mpeg2,or,AVI"
good luck!!

I'm sorry you're experiencing difficulty with transferring videos from the Camcorder to the Windows 7 Computer. Unfortunately, the USB streaming feature of the Camcorder is not compatible with Windows 7 Operating System.

However, you can use either i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Windwos 7 Computer.

I have provided a link where you can view the steps to transfer videos using i.LINK interface:

I am trying to figure out if there is some sort of technology out there to hook my palmcorder to the computer.. Please help

The only thing you can do with an analog camcorder is to transfer the video and audio from the camcorder to the PC via video/audio capture device and appropriate software. This will convert the analog signals to digital format for the computer to work with.

Transferring Video to my Laptop

For this purpose, you must have a USB cable that connects your palmcorder to your laptop. It must be there in its box itself.

After connecting, please insert the CD that came with your palmcorder and install the software. If you don't have the CD, then you can download the required software from this below mentioned link:

Pv-L750 camcorder

I have a Panasonic camcorder PV-L750D-K

You will need to purchase Pinnacle Video Transfer.

http://www.pinnaclesys.com/images/redesign/PVT/comp1.html?KeepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=400&width=650

It's expensive, but it's the most convenient way to transfer analog video (via a USB flash stick or external hard drive) to view and edit on a PC.

I have used this device with my Panasonic PV-L750D-K Palmcorder (camcorder) with success.

A few things to keep in mind:

a.) The Pinnacle Video Transfer converts the the video into MPEG 4 format - so you will need the Apple QuickTime viewer to view the videos on your PC.

b.) You will need to purchase a USB flash stick, a min of 4GB (I use an 8 GB flash stick), unless you have one already.

c.) Your flash stick should be formatted to FAT 32

d.) You will need the Audio/Video cable that came with your Panasonic camcoder (the supplied A/V cables that come with the Pinnacle Video Transfer are incompatible with the Panasonic camcorder).

e.) You will need to update the Pinnacle Video Transfer with the latest firmware update (available from the Pinnacle Support Site) before you hook everything up.

The rest is a no brainer. Just follow the instructions in the booklet, or view the tutorial videos on the pinnacle web site for more info.

Have fun.

I believe you have to use a Firewire (IEEE 1394) cable to transfer the video. From what I have read, the USB connection is only if you want to use the camcorder as a "live" camera.
