It sounds like that you might have a high voltage arch or a bad connection on the audio amp board. You can take the back off and with the lights off, or in a dark room you can look for something arching.
I had the same problem and discovered from the instructions it will only charge the battery if in the "off" position on the side ie it is not charging if it is plugged in to a power source and being used.

i don't think thats possible. what you are hearing is the 'mixed' track.
to hear the unmixed tracks (there may be 2 or 3 in all) you wld have to play the dvd using an editing software on a computer where all the audio tracks can be seen separately and one or some or all can be turned off / turned down, etc.
