Techguru2009: You need to install a third party decoder. If you have then uninstall it and reinstall. You might have a conflict with the video codecs.Let me know if this helps.

I have a dell opticplex gx620. It was working perfectly until the windows crashed. I have been trying to reload windows xp but once i press f8 to accept it will show blue screen.

You need an actual Dell windows disk to reload to a new hard drive as it will flash the associated drivers and boot sequence to the RAM. Nothing else works with DELL!

Patricia,

Left-click on Start, then Right-click on My Computer.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Left-click on the Hardware tab.
Left-click on Device Manager.

Once Device Manager has fully loaded left-click on the + sign, next to Network adapters.
What Ethernet chipset are you using? Intel, or Conexant?

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/dimension-1100

Communications (6)
A) Intel - Driver 9 /5/ 2006
B) Conexant - Driver 10/ 21/ 2005

Network (3)
A) Intel - Driver 12 / 1 / 2005

If you have an Intel chipset suggest you download AND install both Intel driver files listed above.

Burn to a CD disk. Put it in your optical drive of the needed computer. Go to My Computer, and DOUBLE-click on the drive letter, of the optical drive with the CD in it.

DOUBLE-click RIGHT ON the file name.
Follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard.
(Just click on Next, Next, and Finish)

Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device.

Windows XP is the O/S, the ethernet chipset is the device.

When asked to restart the computer - No.
Turn the computer completely off, then after 1 minute turn it on.
(Hard Start)

Still no?
Ethernet adapter card is shot,

Can not find my windows disk for a dell Dimension 9100. Loaded normal windows on to the computer, but it keeps giving problems at start up...Were do i find Windows Xp for a dell computer?

The problem is that you don't have all of the Dell-specific drivers for the OS. You can download them here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_9100&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= If you enter your Service Tag, it will display the drivers for only the devices you have installed. Also note that there are other applications (such as Sonic for burnind optical discs) that are also available from this page.

You can download the drivers from the following website.

Note : If the device manager still shows bangs after installing drivers from the website. The operating system would have to reinstalled again

FATAL ERROR MESSAGE/DELL OPTIPLEX GX150 DESKTOP/WINDOWS XP PRO

I have experienced this problem as well, it is either the CD is scratch or the CD-rom lens needs cleaning, however it can read the content of the CD, I would susgest you try a another CD-rom , borrow it from a friend. It works for me.
