Dishwasher wont finish cycle

The dishwasher will not finish the cycle. It stayed on and the timer did not correspond with the actual amount of time it was on. I finally shut it off after three hours. It seemed stuck on the rinse cycle. It also did not drain, the water is still in the bottom.

I have experienced this problem before and it turned out to be the main control board in the console. Not a cheap fix, either. The control boards are not serviceable, and can run over $100. Sorry, I hope I was of some help.
