Dell printer When i'm installing the software it says printer is not detected at all. Light are everything.

Mcafee firewall maybe refusing access to printer.

Do you have another cable (I assume it is USB). I have had occasionally had USB cables go bad. Maybe use a different port... had those go funky too. winstephen

Go to the Dell website
Go to the support section
There should be either a box to put your model number in or a list of products which you choose printers from then look it up on a list.
Once you find it click in and it should give you the software you need to download.

My dell printer does not start after there was a power cut.the printer is dell all in one 966.i have removed and replugged every thing but the machine would not power on despite there bing light on the...


In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . If there is no result check if there is any damage on the power supply.If not the mother board could have developed some faults with the power outage.

Possible that the cartirdge was replaced without the maintenance operation and so the driver can be out of sync. Hence to reset and confirm remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can
also be poor ink cartridge contacts

Hi Im using the printer for the first time on my computer. the comuter detects the printer becuase it says that the usb hub detects it. the green light is on the printer but what do i do to get it...


You need to install the software and the drivers to make this printer working. Normally it comes with the set up disc. IF you did now recieve one, you can check the printers manual and support site HERE

Dell ink cartridge is missing but there is a cartridge in it


Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the cartridge is not contacting to the board .It can also be poor ink cartridge contacts.remove reset and repeat once again.

I think scanning softwaere was not installed in your computer. so install scanning software. then the scanning will work properly. Pl give feedback

Lexmark X8350 "communication not available"


I fixed this by completely uninstalling the Lexmark software, then unplugging the USB and restarting. I then installed the new Lexmark software that I downloaded from their site, make sure not to plug the USB back in until it told me to. It then detected the printer properly and started working.

printer wont print anything. computer says no print documents pending even though ive clicked print a few times and on different programs and internet pages as well. printer will print only if i copy something press print test page from the printer itself but it doesnt print anything from the computer

Problem with Dell ink jet refill....


Are you using the Dell software to replace the cartridge?
If you where just replacing without running the software then it wont know you have replaced the cartridge.

Computer will not completely read cd.


When you say it will not install do you mean the software stopped during install? Did windows not see the printer? With your computer running. Connecting everything for the printer. Connect the usb cable to pc & printer. Last thing to connect should be the power. When you connect the power cord & turn on the printer. Windows should show an icon by the clock. This icon is windows found new hardware. If this does not come up than your printer is either not connected correctly, you have a bad usb cable or usb port is not seeing the connection. Try another usb port. Each company has their own way to install printer software. Most want the printer shut off. During the install of printer software, a window will open and ask you to connect the printers usb or serial connector to pc & turn on power. The software will finish. Others want you to install the software completely into windows. When you shut down windows than you hook up the printer & power. If everything above failed you can try connecting the printer to another computer & you can try another printer for your Dell. I know, who has something extra like a printer you pc but this is all about trial and error.
Hope one of these suggestions work for you! Lastly, new Dell! You should have free support through dell even for things like this. Luck!!
