Question about Dryers

Drum wont turn

I have Kenmore 70 Series dryer. When you push the start button, it buzzes but will not turn on. The drum is not turning automatically but you can manually turn it counterclockwise. You cannot manually turn it forward or clockwise. What can be wrong? Is it something that we can fix ourselves?

The heat works, so the motor is ok. The drum turns manually. I assume it's the belt.

Is your motor working? How about your belt? Is it broken?

Kenmore dryer 70 series doesn't always start, sometimes it will just put out a buzzing sound after its been running and trying to restart, will start back up after 20-30 minutes.

Open the dryer door and slowly rotate the dryer drum in a counterclockwise (CCW) direction. Rotate the drum 2-3 revolutions and then shut the door and see if it will start. If it continues to just hum and not start could indicate a voltage issue, motor issue or a friction issue. Open the door again and locate the door switch plunger in the upper or lower corner on the hinge side of the drum opening. Hold the plunger in while someone begins rotating the drum counterclockwise. While turning the drum counter clockwise and holding the door switch plunger inwards press the start button. If it starts, there is likely a friction problem or motor problem.

The drum on my kenmore 70 series dryer won't turn and the dryer won't get heat up either. The drum will start to turn if we take the lid off and manually push it but not automatically

The dryer will not heat till the motor starts . If the dryer makes a hum when you activate the start switch' but won't start, then either the motor switch is bad or full of lint. If there is no hum then the start switch may be bad.

Dryer drum will not turn.

Hello.

If the buzz continues to go for awhile(2-3 minutes before you stop it you will need to replace the belt on your dryer.

If the buzz quits pretty quickly after you let go of the start button and you smell something hot or electrical, you will need to replace the motor.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Dryer won't start

The start windings in your motor have gone out. To fix this you must replace the motor.
