Question about Televison & Video
If you have an Android device with IR you can download the free version of IR Universal Remote and that will get you out of this problem. I had the same problem, and the buttons on the TV would not work for this screen. I used my Samsung Tab2 10" to 'unbrick' my TV. Get yourself a Universal remote at a large drug store or electronic appliance store and follow the instructions to have it retrieve the TV code and store it. Then use the remote to go into the menu of the TV and set it up that way.

SOURCE: I bought a vizio 42
A universal remote will work as long as vizio is listed as one of the brands on the back of the box for the remote. Most of them are easy to program as long as you follow the directions. You can pick one up for less than ten bucks just about anywhere.

You might have to use the menu button on the T.V. itself (if it has one). I have issues also with my Comcast remote in that they will do just very basic functions. The only other option I can provide as a solution would be to try an electronics retailer such as your local radio shack, best buy, frys, etc. Not much else can be done with the Comcast remote unfortunately.

SOURCE: vizio remote control not working
Hi, I had the same problem. My vizio remote for my 42 inch 2 month old vizio also seemed to stop working. Here's what I did: My vizio remote (like most remote's nowadays) was designed for multiple components (tv, dvd, vcr, etc). All you need to do to make the remote work again is set it back to tv. Now, the confusing thing about vizio remotes is that they actually have TWO places where you can switch the remote to the appliance you want to control. One is on top of the remote, the other is on the BOTTOM. Switch it back to TV using the BOTTOM. My remote had stopped working because I had inadvently switched it to another component on the BOTTOM component switch.
