Question about Belkin F5D7330 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

I can get iternet access on the desktop, and the router says that everything is connected (at least.. accordig to the status lights) and yet, I'm unable to get the wireless to connect. no laptop in the house can connect to it, not even my brand new one... its showing that theres a full signal, but i'm getting an exclamation point when i pull up my wireless manager. I've ried resetting botht the router and the modem, and unplugged both for 15 seconds at a time. I'm stumped.

Hi MrMark. Thank you for your assistance. I am trying to fix this for a friend, and don't have access to an owners manual. Ordinarily, ive never had to alter security settings before, as the network is unsecure, and my laptop will cinnect to unsecured networks without issue. any clarification and assistance you can offer would be immensely helpful.

You need to set up security on the router that matches that setup on any wireless laptops.

Reply respond and I can give you more directions, but the procedure is in your owner manual.

Go to the Belkin website and download the manual. I just checked, there is one there.

Laptop cannot aquire network address from wireless router

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

Connecting wireless adapter

There is some additional information that would be required before I answer your questions: 1. Which Operating System are we using. If it is Windows XP, which service pack (Control Panel -> System)? 2. Which Wireless Router or Access Point? 3. The computer is a laptop or a desktop 4. If it is a desktop, what is the distance between the router and the computer.
