Re: No power

If you got it a few years ago, or leave it on charge for several days, you might need a new battery. If thats not the case, if you droped it the battery jumper may have come loose, to open the device just take a small hex key (you can buy a set at buck or two that is fine) and take out the screws. the jumper is holding the back plate on the device. Just press down on the conecter and see if it will turn on (the buttons/frame may pop out when you open it. The charger is the last possible thing to test if all else fails, get a multi meter and test the charger for something under 9 volts. If this doesnt work then just buy a new palm because palm is really hard to deal with.

Battery won't charge after being replaced

The charger might be bad. Or then the pdas connector is bad, or the motherboard is damaged.

to find out is your charger working you could use a tester to test it or another pda.

If you could get some power into the pda you could use the bootloader to test the device. Its been years since I had my 3850.

Il have to find instructions on how to get to the bootloader but test the other things first.

Drop a comment.

PC/PDA "connected" yet PC won't read PDA

try syncing through bluetooth, there could be a problem with the cradle. i have had an issue very similar to yours and had to do a soft reset on my pda. then set up your device to use a blue tooth connection( you may need to buy a bluetooth dongle for your pc).

Connecting to bluetooth

Restore your PDA to factory defaults and try to make the connection again. I think it will work.

Lost data?

leave the backup battery in the PDA and bring it back to life with this how to ;)

if that doesn't help you may need to give the battery a little kick-charge for the PDA to recognize it again. the PDA "thinks" there's not battery if the battery voltage is below 2Volt.
to "kick-charge" the battery just get a AC adaptor with at least 5V and 1A (a.k.a. 1000mA) with 2 wires and connect them to the battery pins (with "+" and "-" correct!)

if you have your PDA lying in front of you with the display down and the battery cover opened, the pins of the battery are as following:

left: plus
middle: charging/temperature (not important for hand-charging)
right: minus

connect the wires of the AC adaptor correctly and let it "kick-charge" for about 5minutes (but NEVER let it charge any longer if the battery is getting hot!!!!)

after that, the PDA should recognize the battery again because the voltage is more than 3Volt again.

but don't (!) try to power it up after kick-charging!
the batterys voltage is higher than 3Volt again, but it takes just a few seconds to empty it again if u try that.
it's only for the PDA to "see" the battery again ;)
