repost with more specific . motor aka fan is running?stat is set to heat and max heat? how old? general progression is as follows. stat says its cold. signal is sent to gas valve to open. gas valve looks to see if pilot is lit via thermocouple. if pilot is lit then main valve opens and burner lights. shortly thereafter sufficient heat builds up to trip heat sensor that turns on fan and blows hot air into house.many times a tripped safty causes a default fan response. aka when you show up the fan is on 24 7 . that equals a failed safety and needs a pro tech to see why saftyfailed.

Arcoliner furnace, model wo451. Where is pilot light located and how do I shut it off?

It may not have one or it may have one thats intermittent, or more likly it has a hot surface ignightor. To see, set stat up with power off and go down by furnace and turn it on. a inducerfan should start, then after a 3-8 seconds, youll here a click. if its a single click you have an hsi and you will see it glow ornge, as it dims, the main burners will light. The hsi looks like 1.5-2 long u shape pieces made from black silicone with a whit porcelen base, Unplug it and set your meter 120 volts and if you have power but the ignighter wont glow, change it. Kill power and remove with one screw. Take to a heating shop and get a peplcement, but DO NOT touch new one with fingers. If it goes click click click multiple times, then watch if it lights a pilot near burner. IF it does and goes out after a few seconds, then clean the other small rod that the pilot hits, and whose functine is to tell the main vavle that, indeed, the pilot is lite, but the sensor isdirty and the iny voltage it produces is not enought to teel the valve,ok. If these fail, and you DO have a standing pilot, one that never shuts off, follow the tiny copper tube from the gasvale to its end at the beginning of the burners. This is a thermocouple and needs to be replaced. Any hardware store has them. Thermocoule, NOT, thermopile. Any other info you beleive to be important to me, teex benthums@yahoo.com Good luck

Ruud 90 plus will not blow hot air

My Ruud is a different model, so this may not work. Remove the cover to the burners. Look on the left side for a small rubber hose going to a metal cylinder. Remove the hose and blow through it to remove any moisture. Replace the hose and see if the burners start up.

Janitrol GUPS075-3 Furnace burners will not stay lit

The first thing I would do is make sure the flame sensor is clean, this is a metal rod immersed in the burner flame on the opposite side of the igniter. If too much oxidation builds up on it, it will not allow the burner to stay lit. To clean, just turn off furnace and remove flame sensor and clean with steel wool and then reinstall. If this does not solve the problem there may be a problem with the gas valve.

I have a rheem80 plus furnace. some times the pilot light lights but the main burner never does. other times the main burner lights normally but burnes for 5 or 10 seconds and goes out all at once. then...

Hi!!
Try replacing the thermocouple, it's job is to send a signal to a gas valve to open when there is flame, no flame, no gas it is also a safety feature on your furnace.
When the thermocouple is defective, sometimes work, then quits, turning off the gas, then works again and so on. I think replacing it will solve your problems. Cost is about $20 and it is a DIY job.

Delayed ignition of a Ruud high efficiency upflow 90 plus propane

It sounds like the first thing to do is have burners and pilot cleaned and adjusted so ignitor and pilot flame is close to main burner ignition rail.

The "whoosh" is due to delayed ignition because the pilot flame does not come in contact with main gas.

One more thing that should be tested is the gas pressure and combustable air mixture to be sure it is correct.

It is always best to have a qualified technician do this for you, In many areas the gas supplier with check and safety test this for you.
