Question about Haier hwr10xc6 Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Compressor noise My brand new Haier air conditioner intermediately makes tremendous rattling noises - sounds like a dozen gerbils scrambling over a tin roof. The source is definitely vibration-based. The problem is not case rattle - as I have the sucker wedged in tight. I assume it is compressor based - as the noise ceases when the unit cycles out of cool to fan. There are periods up to 24 hours when no rattle is heard, and then suddenly it reappears varying in loudness, from annoying to deafening. Desperate for solution, since dealing with Haier would involve shipping the unit and being without it during this raging summer heat. Help!

Re: Compressor noise

Anything bought from a retailer you have 90 days (unless otherwise posted) to exchange according to the Uniform Commercial Code of the United States. There are other state laws that vary from state to state. The air conditioner may fall under electronics, which usually have a 30 day return. After that period you have to warranty thru the mfg. If you have a receipt exchange it, if not your out of luck. Haier is garbage BTW. At least by the chinese made unit rebranded to look American. Hack

Hair window air comditioner is making funny noises

Hello, the noises you are hearing can be a few differant things. It could be the condensate being pcked up and splased on the condenser which makes a swishing sound, this is normal. It could be the fan blade hittting the shroud and that happens when the fan gets loose on the shaft. It also could be the compressor itself if liquid refrigerant is entering the compressor,

Why is it making noise?

Air conditioners have compressors in them. By the very nature of a "compressor" it will make some noise as it compresses the vapor in the unit so that it can become a liquid, to be expanded which will remove the heat from your room. Greatly simplified of course. Abnormal noises are usually caused by a worn compressor, or debris/imbalance in the blower wheel.

I purchased a Commercial Cool Haier portable rolling air conditioner CPN11XCJ from QVC and the compressor noise is aweful. I was told this was a shipping damage issue. The unit works fine but the noise....

Check the compressor. It probably fell out of it's mounting bracket during shipping. Maybe turned upside down or something. Make sure the compressor is sitting solid and it's rubber feet are in place. If you continue to use this unit with a loose compressor, you may damage or break a refrigerant line.

Haier ESA 3185 AC won't cool; makes escalating loud vibrating noise near front panel/ filter

Have someone check the run capacitor of this unit. If the run capacitor is bad over shorted it can cause the unit to run and short cycle on a current overdraw. This makes for an electrical imbalance in the compressor motor. Next step is the compressor is faulty.

Loud as Hell

Is it installed in a window? Check to make sure it is installed correctly. usually there is a felt or foam strip that is used to dampen vibration when you place it in the window. It also acts as seal to keep outside air and bugs out. If you place your hand at various locations on the unit does the sound go away? If it does then you know it is a vibration problem. Just add new foam or re-adjust the foam or gasketing it already has. If that doesn't work then try to locate the source of the noise. Use a mechanics stethoscope or even a cardboard tube from paper towels will work. Once you have located the source then you can tell the store what the problem is when you take it back and get a new one. Cheap air conditioners are noisy. Some more than others, it's why they are cheap. But your problem does sound like it could be a product issue.
