Question about Vizio L32 32 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

No picture The television has sound, but does not display a picture. We initially hooked it up to a digital converter and it worked fine. After a few minutes, the screen would go black, but the sound remained. Now it doesn't have a display at all. Have I done something wrong, or is the TV faulty?

How do I get picture back on TV which was working the night before, which is hooked up to HD cable box, thru HDMI?

OS info is always helpful, if say you are running some type of nix, it's likely not getting recognized by xserver or if your running some version of windows your display manager has shut it down because of a resolution mismatch.

I have sound but no picture at all. "NO TV SIGNALS" in red. Was working fine for 15+ yrs. Cables are connected correctly. Only used for dvds and vhs for kids; no cable / satellite hook-up.

Your TV currently is set to receive signals over the air but the world has moved to digital. If your 15 year old TV has not had a digital converter connected to it, you won't see much.

No audio from pc connected using hdmi

Are you not getting audio to the television speakers and the onkyo reciever speakers when connected HDMI thru the reciever or just the television. If it is just thru the television then it is because the reciever is grabbing the HDMI audio signal and converting it so it does not reach the TV. If it is both then try changing the HDMI signal output from PCM to DOLBY DIGITAL on the computer. Your reciever may not be able to process the PCM signal of the computer. Does the reciever show a PCM or DOBLY DIGITAL display when HDMI is hooked up to it?

Converter box installation. Not a clue.

rf cables will work fine for older tvs. newer tvs should use the composite (yellow, red and white cable) to produce a digital picture and sound. FYI the indoor antenna works best when positioned in a window. Best thing to do is install an outdoor antenna in the attic near the gable vent or on the exterior of the house.

Is a FLM-153B a digital tv

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} This is the sort of thing a lot of people are wondering lately. the answer is no. you'll need a converter. the picture quality is 1080i and 720p so it is an HD display, but it has a standard tuner built into the unit also called NTSC - the old broadcast standard. to get a digital picture on that TV you'll need an ATSC tuner. you can buy one that plugs into your TV. The US government is offering rebated on digital converters which is a good option. check http://www.dtv.gov/
You can buy digital connectors and digital cable at most retails stores to hook the equipment up.

-good luck-

If you have purcased the audio/video cables and attached them properly, all you need to do is to make sure your television on 3 or 4 (a channel with no signal). I had this problem until last night and discovered the channel setting to 3.
