SOURCE: GE jvm187osf02 microwave loses power

It may be a blown fuse or the thermal cutout (T.C.O.) or thermostat on the magnetron or on top of the oven cavity.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Accessing some components (especially the oven cavity thermostat) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Trips when plugged in

What trips? If you are referring to the circuit breaker then I suspect the breaker is not sufficient for the power the unit draws. Beware installing a higher amperage breaker. First be sure the wiring and all bomponents are adequate.

Keeps tripping the breaker

You have an opencircuit possibly at the wall outlet. Shut off breeaker, pull off outlet cover and take out plug unit. Check to see all wires are secure and no indication of burning or melting. Any black marks indicate an arc of electricity has occured. If suspicious, replace plug with new one.

I just purchased a souleus 12000 btu portable air conditioner. The unit works fine but keeps tripping the circuit breaker in my apartment. What causes this and can it be fixed or is it just the wiring in...

First, you need to determine what, besides the Souleus, is on that electrical circuit, and whether the circuit is 15 or 20 amp.

12,000 BTU A/C's tend to pull 10-12 amps, and they can peak just under 15 when the compressor starts. So a new, right off the shelf unit will max out a 15amp circuit. An older model with a worn out starting cap will demand even more amps at compresser startup.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

Friedrich model 24m continually trips circuit breaker. had new 220 line installed and have replaced breaker but problem continues.

How new is unit? Looks like a portable. if it has a 3 prong plug, it sounds like the compressor is shorted to ground, tripping breaker. If its new, return it, if not, junk it
