Question about Sanyo Xacti Digital Camcorder

Unable to download the videos to my imovie on my Mac

The digital photos go directly to iphoto, but the videos don't go to imovie.  Do I need special software, and if so, where do I download it from?

They are not compatable in that way. You will need to move the pictures to your computer first and then to the imovie.

Try using iMovie. iPhoto and some other photo cataloging programs are great at dealing with photos but they don't do videos. That's what iMovie is for.

iphoto is just for still photos. Use a card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop. Double click on the video and Quicktime will play it. You can use imovie to edit it.

How to make videos on macintosh

Dear sir,
You can make videos by using iMovie software installed on your system.
Plug in virtually any digital camcorder and iMovie starts importing your video. Then iMovie helps you organize your video just as you organize photos: by putting everything in one central location and grouping video clips according the date they were taken. So it’s easy to find the clips you’re looking for — whether to watch or to edit. Don’t have a camcorder? You can still use iMovie: It displays video you captured on your still camera and imported into iPhoto.

have a nice day
good luck

Can't upload videos to Imovie

Kodak series cameras capture videos in MOV files. iMovie will only import codecs that it can edit. iMovie can import MP4, DV, Apple Intermediate Codec, H.264, Photo JPEG, Motion JPEG, Apple Animation, and perhaps others. MOV is a multimedia container file, not a codec. It can contain any of the above codecs, but it could contain other codecs that are not editable by iMovie, such as MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 so that sometimes iMovie cannot recognize Kodak videos directly.
please try this video converter, good luck. kodak video to imovie

Downloading videos to imovie on a Mac

This is what the Sanyo CG9 Users Manual has to say about viewing videos taken with the camera:

"About video clip files recorded with this camera
You can use Apple’s QuickTime to play back video clips on a computer.
Playback may be possible using other software that supports the ISO
standard MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AAC audio)."

Apple Quicktime downloads are available here.
