THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOUR COMPUTER AND ALL THE WISDOM MICROSOFT SECURITY OPTION MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCESS THAT PART OF WINDOWS.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR SERVICE FOLDER.

THE OTHERS ARE IN THE CONTROL PANEL, NEED TO CHECK OUT THE NETWORKING AND SHARING FOLDER, NEED TO GO INTO SECURITY AND DISABLE EVERYTHING UNTIL YOU FIX WHATEVERY YOU NEED TO FIX.

THAN YOU NEEED TO GO INTO WINDOWS DEFENDER AND WINDOWS FIREWALL AND DISABLE ALL THEM FILES.

BUT BEFROE YOU DO ANYTHING BACK UP ALL SETTINGS AND FILES, TAKE NOTES ON EVERY THING YOU DO SO YOU DONT FORGET TO TURN SOMETHING BACK ON.

MOST OF THE THING TO NEED FIXING IS IN THE REGEDIT FOLDER

GO INTO CONTROL PANEL AND LOOK UNDER THE FOLDER CALLED DEFAULT PROGRAM AND JUST LOOK TRHEW THE SELECTIONS YOU MAY NOT HAVE TO DO ALL THAT WORK FOR NOTHING.

Achieving a Safe and Secure Environment

Well you bring up a good question that has many avenues to look at and it all depends on your operating system, Windows, Linux, Unix, MacOSX? The first thing to do on any OS you might have is secure the administrative rights of the computer. Always have user name a passwords set. Windows when installed automatically makes the first user the administrator with full access rights to the computer all the time. BAD Idea. Always create a standard user and log in as that user. When administrative rights are needed have the OS ask for the Admin password so that when that process is complete admin access is revoked. Under all OS's besides Windows this is the norm. If you are using Windows make sure that you use a quality, proven anti-virus software, surf the internet wisely and pay attention to what you download. Windows security is Lame to say the least and takes much more diligence keeping it secure. Do lots of reading on security for OS's to improve your knowledge of the do's and don'ts. A secure environment is only as good as the knowledge the user has to keep it secure.

I was setting my configuration for my wireless modem to my internet modem using my disc I keyed in a wrong username and password how can I change it to the correct one please?

You can access the router through web interface and configure it. All you have to do is connect the router. Follow the steps given below: -
First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (written at the back of router) depending upon the make/ model of your router
(unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password admin OR password.) and lookup for the security options to do the following: -

Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings" 2.Under "Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply
Also make the following changes (recommended): -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password admin OR password.)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

Forgot administrator's password

Hi Reggie,

Please read the entire article before proceeding:

All administrator accounts are created equal, with equal
powers, except that the main adiminstrator account cannot
be deleted and it does not appear on the login (or users)
menu by default.

You do need an alternate administrator account to solve this
problem. You must login to a user account with administrative
privileges in order to access system resources, take ownership
of files and folders, and to change other people's passwords.
(including the built-in administrator account)

Otherwise, what would be the point of any security at all,
if you could bypass it at will.

If you can login to another account with administrator pri'vs,
then follow me. Otherwise you may have to pursue more difficult
options, as explained later.

1) Open up the control panel
2) Open up Administrative tools
3) Open up local security settings
4) Expand Local policies in the LHS folder tree

Check:
Accounts: Administrator Account Status = Enabled
Accounts: Rename Administrator Account = Administrator

this is to make sure that the admin account is enabled,
and has not been renamed. You can double click on these
settings to change them. Is you are for some reason unable
to enable the admin account, you must reboot to safe mode,
where the admin account is always enabled.

Now that you are sure that you have a functioning administrator
account, you must reset the password, since you cannot
retrieve it:

From the control panel, once again open up

Administrative Tools ---->
Computer Management --->
Local users and Groups ---->
Users ----->
Administrator ---->
Right click on administrator ---->
SET PASSWORD

....

This should do it.

N.B.
The administrator account will be re-created, you will loose
1) All settings and preferences
2) Access to any NTFS encrypted files the administrator
has encrypted.
3) Stored network and internet passwords (the administrator's)
4) Personal security certificates.

This procedure is different from simply changing the password,
because you don't know the original, so Windows treats it as a
hostile takeover, That's why you loose access to encrypted files.

If you have trouble starting the computer management Applet,
Run it manually:

START --> RUN --> compmgmt.msc

or

...\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe compmgmt.msc

==========================================

Trick:

If you do not have access to an existing account
with administrative privileges, you may be able to hack in
with and old setup disk from Windows 2000, with
no service packs, or at most XP1

The reason is that Windows 2000 did not anticipate nor
respect Windows XP security.

1) Reboot from the 2000 disk, and follow the on screen
prompts to repair the system using the

SYSTEM RECOVERY CONSOLE.

2) Do not proceed to install Win 2000, make sure you
get out before it asks you to format a disk, if you get
there you missed the prompt and you have gone too far,
Reboot and try again.

3) Once you are in the recovery console = DOS like environment
type HELP, and it will give you a list of commands.

You should be able to create a new user account
(with admin or change the admin password privs)

4) The last alternative is to purchase an XP password recovery
utility, which you run from a boot CD.

Good luck

Martin.
