Question about Frigidaire Dishwashers

Open Question

I have a Frigidaire ultra quiet energy star dishwasher and the dial gets stuck halfway through the cycle. It runs all day if I'm not home. And when the dishes come out, there's bits of dirt and what looks like gritty sand stuck on all the glasses. I was going to clean the filter out but I don't know how to do that. It's a ten year old model (at least) and I have no paper information about it. Help!

SOURCE: Dishwasher not cleaning the dishes

Hi there. Here are some solutions that may help you combat this issue with the non cleaning of the dishes during the wash.

• Choose another cycle for longer washing
time.
• Check rack loading section for proper
loading—avoid nesting items.
• Home water pressure may be too low—
should be 20 to 120 pounds per square inch
(psi).
• Check incoming water temperature. It
should be at least 120°F (49°C). (See
Factors Affecting Performance.)
• Check water hardness. For extremely hard
water, it may be necessary to install a water
softener. (See Detergent Chart.)
• Use fresh detergent.
• Check to make sure funnel in top rack is not
blocked.
• Make sure items are not blocking the spray
arms, preventing them from rotating.
• Check to see if the rinse aid dispenser
needs refilling.

Next, you mentioned in your text that you were experiencing a burning scent after the was or during it. i have a few solutions for that as well.

• Soiled dishes left in dishwasher too long can
create an odor. Use Rinse & Hold cycle.
• There will be a "new" smell when first
installed. This is normal.
• Check to see if unit is draining properly.

One more thing, sometimes food or plastic dishware will fall between the spaces in the basket that holds the dishes. these plastics can be burned by the heating element inducing a burning scent during the drying process. always make sure that all plastics are secure before you start the cycle. food can get stuck on this heater element as well causing a burned smell.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Ultra Quiet 111 - ground up dirt on dishes

Remove the bottom plate near the floor. You can then look in under the dishwasher machine. The feet are adjustable up/down with a wrench most of the time. The dishwasher machine should tilt slightly away from the over flow sensor. In this case, Frigidaire Ultra Quiet, the rear feet should be lowered, or the front feet raised. If you have a machine with the over flow sensor on the bottom, at the back, tilt your machine slightly forward. Use detergent that dissolves food proteins. Problem solved. My frigidaire ultra quiet III dishwasher sticks on wash cycle. whats wrong?

Good Morning friend, thanks for your inquiry!

From the information you have provided your Frigidaire dishwasher is sticking on the wash cycle. Do you mean the button is sticking? Or is it stuck on that cycle? If the button is stuck you may have an issue with your keypad and in order to help unstick the button I would push it down to see if that helps alleviate any tension.

If you dishwasher is stuck on the wash cycle I would recommend performing a reset and you can do that by flipping the household circuit breaker off for at least ten minutes. If you continue to have an issue with your cycles I would suggest having a professional out to properly diagnosis and replace any electrical components. I hope this information has been helpful. -Matt

Wash cycle knob

It's a quirk of the cycle timer. You can replace the timer ($) or live with it. Besides, a replacement might have the same quirk

Where do I find the model number on my Frigidaire Dishwasher. It is a built-in model ''Ultra Quiet I'' I do not remember how long ago I bought it and had it installed. The model number entered was picked...

It should be located on the inside perimeter of the door on a metal plate. If not there, and there is a bottom panel, try and remove it to see if they put it there. You shouldn't have to pull it out I am sure. Just look real well with a light inside and u should find it.
Good Luck,

Our Frigidaire Ultra Quiet II dishwasher loud buzzing noise- wash

No longer "ultra quiet" huh?

A sound during certain cycles indicates a broken part. By the information provided sounds like a pump may be the problem. You may need to contact a service tech about this issue. If the appliance still under warranty, the service should be provided for free.

Every time when you hear noises (other than the normal ones) in the appliance, it indicates there is something wrong and it will worsen over time, so as soon you hear something is not ok, get assistance.

Ya, the mechanical timer/dial is the problem. The heating element just got stuck on as the timer stalled in that dry cycle.
