Hi, my first time posting. I have the lg 9800 and the battery is dead but when I plug the charger in it shows full charge within 5 seconds. I pull the cord out and the phone dies; just like that. I have read through some of the posts, but nothing seems to work. Please help ASAP

Sounds like you either have bad contacts from the battery to phone or you have a bad charger connection port on the phone or simply a defective battery try buying a new battery on line i have seen them as low as 20 dollars

I have the same problem, however, I noticed it does this only when I use the house charger.
The moment I use the car charger, the battery charges just fine.
However, for sure, at around 2 years it does need a new battery. I already changed the battery on my phone after 2 yrs because it was doing the same thing, was not holding the charge.
At this point I know for sure, the house charger does not work any more and if anything it seams as it discharges more the battery instead of charging it. So I am using only the car charger but it does not hold the battery for a long time as it did in the beginning.
The batteries and the chargers need to be replaced at around 2 years. I double checked this with the Verizon people, just as a backup to my "discovery" .

My cell phone turns off every time I unplug it from a charger. How can I stop that?

Sounds like your phone may have a defective battery. Try removing the battery, claening the contacts and make sure it is fully seated. Then hook up the charger and make sure the phone shows the battery is charging. After it has been charged and you remove it from power and it dies again it is probably the battery.

LG VX9800; Phone powers off when removed from ANY Charger

I noticed this same issue with a phone I acquired... I would look in the plug at the 'bottom' of the phone, the charging/data port.

Most of the time the pins move a bit in normal use, and if the second to the right (with the keypad facing up) pin on the phone's port has moved, or (in my case) touched other pins/grounded out, that was the issue.

I have seen this on a few phones now... It was the plug, or the charger 'worn' out on the plug, causing mis-contact with the pins!

-Cheers
