Re: unavailable c 60
The C4x and C60-C62 are robust and reliable printers. They are very easy to maintain and cartridges are cheap. You won't find a new one now, but buy any one you can get that prints - we can provide help on any problem, or how to refurbish them.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

dw76 I havn't seen C-60 parts for sale, except for ink cartridges but when I have needed any parts I look for Epson C-60s for sale. I just bought an Epson C-60 for parts on Ebay for $19.30. Thats for the whole printer including tax ($14.50). I don't think you could get any part delivered for much less than that. I've bought C-60s from Craigslist, Amazon and individual sellers too. The clamp down over the cartridge is easy to remove and install. Just gently squeeze the two prongs towards each other and it comes right off. You didn't ask for that information but I thought I'd stick it in just in case
The driver for the Epson C60 printer is included with Vista - all you need to do is connect the printer to the computer with Vista running and turn it on. If you have already done this and the printer does not work properly (but see the info about the Status Monitor below), turn the printer off, uninstall the printer using the Control Panel-Programs and Features-Epson Printer Software, then reboot the computer. Once Vista is running, turn the printer on and it should then install OK.
HOWEVER, the printer Status Monitor (SM) is not included in this process and if you try to install the XP version of the SM, it will not work. Epson appears to have no intention of remedying this problem. This means you have no means of monitoring your ink levels, nor of changing the cartridges, cleaning the heads etc via the computer, although some of these tasks can be carried out via the printer control panel (see your hand book on how to do this).
A good solution is to use the free SSC utility as your SM - download from:
Install it, and double click the ssc printer icon in the bottom right corner (System Tray). Choose Configuration and set your printer type (C60), then close the ssc window. Now right click the ssc icon in the sytem tray and choose the SM function you wish to use.
If you have any further queries on this, please post a new comment.
It sounds as though your printer heads need to be cleaned. If you go into your computer, then hardware and find the printer, right click it and find an option/properties tab. Somewhere on here there should be a performance area where you can choose to clean the printer heads : )
I have an Epson C60 and Vista has the neccessary drivers in box. When Vista is running just connect your C60 and it will do the rest. I have so far had no problems. The only thing that I can see is missing is the option to preview via the printer software.
I own 7 (C-60 printers) and I'm always looking for more. These are excellant printers if you don't over think when you are working on one. You can get a C-60 Icon (to press) by doing this; Press start...Press Printers and Faxes...Press your left mouse button on the picture of the printer and hold it down while you drag it to anywhere on your Desktop...and release. You should have an Epson Icon on your desktop now.
ALSO: try pressing your Right mouse button on the Icon to learn a lot more stuff about the C-60. I hope this helps.
